15-17' at the out end.   About 8-10' where he caught the first one.

I honestly believe he could have caught the same fish on a swim jig then, but the spoon deal is definitely something I'm anxious to play with.

Much appreciated. Bet it would work for sure on the docks that had a little more water under them. Might be scary.

Spoon bite is fun. Once you get used to flipping and pitching it, you can actually put it in some tight places. No trailers to wrap up on cables, ropes, or to stick to pontoons. Took me years to finally give in and try it. Just seems bone stupid.

What I didn't notice was whether it bit on the initial drop, or if he jigged it off the bottom a couple times first.  Wish I could see it again.   I'm gonna have to buy the DVD as soon as it's available.

It's definitely a must purchase item. We have a couple of older DVDs, and there is quite a bit more on them. Or has been.

For me, it's usually hit and miss regarding the initial drop. One thing I can't seem to get going is a vertical bite with it, after working it out. Seems like it's either first drop, or on the way out.

most fishing below 20 ft is not really considered effective on LOZ for black bass I beleve. I will sat this though in My little 2 hr evening trips after post spawn I averge about 3-4 chunky 16 to 18 in keepers. All of them from 25ft or deeper. Have gotten a couple 30.

There are definitely some that fish out there. Had one of the area reps show me screen shots of his deep jig places. Weird things like wire spools out in 20-30', on specific structure. Fishes them with 1oz jigs and such.

I'd think the boat traffic would make it nearly impossible to sit on those places.

The spoon thing isn't really a bottom deal. Most of the fish are suspended under docks. You might have 30' under you, and never catch one deeper than 6'.

Have you ever tried a jigging spoon inside a tube bait ?  If you size it to where the tube is stretched flat it works pretty awesome.

That sounds pretty cool.

Yep. That's a serious throwback to the Gitzit heyday in the 80's. We used to run a pointy headed flip jig inside them too, with a worm or craw sticking out. Back before we were smart enough to just TX rig it.

Have the app and this episode won't be available till tomorrow, but sounds like Watson was using the same technique he used on dale hallow last year in mlf...guy caught close to 30lbs in last 2 periods with a big spoon on docks...can't wait to watch this episode.

Got to talk to brandon palaniuk at a fishing show this passed weekend and didnt have to much to say about the lake...guess he didn't do to well
