176champion Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 You been screwed...lol...i hate that..for that reason i carry a tire plug kit....and of coarse a spare tire.. vernon, Hammer time, Quillback and 1 other 4 I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
MOPanfisher Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 I finally switched to 10 ply rated tires on my truck because of rock chips and nails etc. No problems since. Of course that won't help your trailer. Yep plugs, plug kits, and a 12 volt compressor. Have helped several folks at out of the way ramps fix tires, oddly though it has never been a trailer tire. Plugs will get you home, patch will fix it. Quillback and Ham 2
moguy1973 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Better than having a blowout on the trailer. Happened twice in a year for me. Once was while it was sitting in a parking lot. Cheap tire and blew out the sidewall. Other time was on the road. Thank god for spare tires. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

I know that it's twice the maintenance, but have limped home several times on three wheels because of bearing failure. I personally wouldn't own a nice bass boat without a tandem trailer. Plug kit is also a must and a spare set of bearing, tools and grease if you venture far from home. Donna G 1
merc1997 Bo Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 thought maybe that was to fix the hole that was in it. bo Hammer time, Champ188 and Quillback 3
vernon Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I changed my last Tahoe/boat trailer tire about ten years ago. After about getting killed by the boat trailer, the ginormous Tahoe tire/wheel and oncoming traffic I decided to add tow insurance to my vehicle/boat policies. While it ain't happened since when/if it ever does again I'm using my cell phone to call the professionals and gonna let THEM do the heavy lifting. Sore Thumbs Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I had a nail in my truck tires in two consecutive weeks not too long ago. The first one I had a friend try to take tire off and patch it. He scratched the wheel with his machine. The second one I plugged. Ha

This is the 3rd flat I have had to change out in the 5 years I have owned this trailer. Truck tires have been fine.
