I don't see a "shoreline protection tax" (or anything similar) really doing anything to reduce the bigger boats.  It surely would not be used to protect the shores.  You would have to hire a new position to verify the tax was being paid and then you would have to hire engineers to debate whether or not the erosion is natural .  Those who can afford the larger boats and fuel to operate them, will be able to pay the fee, and the lakes will still suffer.

Create a limit on size/displacement,  and those that are currently docked get a "sticker" and once they leave the lake, they cannot return.

Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me)

There were 2 SeaRay 400's. Running together I'm Guessing close to 40 mph. They had 2 drones following them.  They were throwing out 6 footers   Those boats start at 750 large and with a few assecesseries can jump over the Million mark.  My how times have changed for us poor old hillbilly folk

A tax or anything to get in the way of 30' plus boat owners needs to be considered. At worst idle speed law as not to cause large wakes. I agree, size/displacement should be considered.  Correct me if I'm wrong (entirely possible).......... Tablerock is different than LOZ in that it is owned by the taxpayers.  With that I believe it is up to the Water patrol and Corp to take control to protect the taxpayer's interest (Tablerock).  Allowing TR to become a party zone with 4'-6' waves and destroying public property should not be allowed.  Watching the chaos in the mid James this past weekend was shocking. I'm surprised someone didn't get hurt. Like Bill, I've been fishing TR for 40 years and have never seen the like.  The only good thing about $4.50/gallon gas is that it puts the brakes on many boaters.

If we can figure out a way to work/get together to start the process of talking with the Corp and/or Water Patrol to slow the chaos.........I'm in.  PM me if anyone wants to work together.

I saw many of those 30 foot plus boats being trailered and pulled in to gas stations to fill up on the way to lake.

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

If you want to get something changed, you will need to go to the legislature.  The COE has little to no ability to enforce such a rule, the MSHP basically has a policy of they enforce but don't make rules.
