Black powder guys do this thing called "Barking squirrels", which is where you don't actually hit the squirrel but you hit the limb so close to him that the concussion of the ball hitting the limb knocks the squirrel dead.

By their line of thinking this should be a legal way to kill squirrels during the off season.  Right?   Because you didn't shoot the squirrel.

Interesting read. I thought boaters were responsible for their wake?!?!.......guess not.:-(

They used to be, but that was before LOZ became the playground of some very wealthy people.  We change the rules for wealthy folk in this country, haven't you noticed?

If you wanna calm the seas then you need to get a bunch of wealthy guys into fishing...... They'll get sick of the rough water and THEN things will change.   Right now the big wakes don't bother them, but as soon as it does things will calm down drastically.

Money Has nothing to really do with it people like that will runnng these big boats. My neighbor accorss the road brought home a New 21 foot skeeter with 250 on it. for him it was something like pocket change. He is a tradesman young and married to money( I suspect) and down home plain. Only thing I would like to tell him ( but never would) is that all the money in  the world will not make you a good fisherman. It takes hours and hours on the water fishing and searching for understsnding  of the fish not the commercializatio

These people running around out here are from the Yuppie class types. They like to spend their last dime roll playing and fooling themselfes that they are superoir to others. When I first went into management they told me just remember that your country club and they are sweat shop. To this day I hate that sort of thinking. But that is how a lot are. They are a good part the reason  we have this natinal aftitude today.

Total shame; but you're right.:-(

We came down for a few days and stay for the fireworks on the water tonight; and thankfully we are leaving in the morning. (Fireworks are right at the end of the cove we stay in; idle along shore out to watch, then idle back in) Prior years haven't been terrible; but there's a 30+ Foot long, catamaran style hull; huge chrome engine exposed with straight open pipes; on a trailer looking to be hitting the water tomorrow. Offshore looking thing that from all appearances, will absolutely splinter any thread of tranquility left down here the next few days. Whatta shame.

-

But to kinda get back on topic.........I'm not sure what can be done until those who can effect change; put their foot down.

-

And I love in that article how the state rep says something to the effect of, "...the time to limit the size of boats has passed".........no its not; yah dope! Do your job and drop the hammer NOW. Quit sitting on yours hands and take action.

-

And for the specific incident of the water patrol not pursuing the boat owner that directly caused damage to a dock because of his boats wake; isn't that like me doing donuts in a gravel parking lot, slinging gravel and damaging other cars, but not being at fault because I didn't directly ram into any cars?!?!?.........my brain is having trouble processing all the nonsense in that article.

The gravel analogy is pretty spot on.  What's the difference?

Since it's perfectly ok for them to throw a giant wake in my direction is it also ok for me to throw a rock in their direction? No?  A stick?   No?   Ok fine, how about a water balloon? .....full of old gear lube.

That'd be ok, right?

I'd chip in for your bond money if someone could get video of one of those things busting on the deck of one of those big cruisers
