fishinwrench Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Yeah the split grip skeletonized look and feel must be what the majority like and want. I just prefer the aesthetics and feel of full cork handles. I have no issues with sensitivity or weight as long as the outfit is balanced
J-Doc Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 I've heard a lot of people say they like cork over other materials because they "feel more" with the cork. Anywho...... Anyone else got anything to say about the Vendetta ? (not fishinwrench's vendetta) Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Flysmallie Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 I've used one on a casting reel and wasn't overly impressed. I'm also not a fan of the split handle but it doesn't keep me from using them. But I did find the area right in front of the reel very uncomfortable with the way that I hold a casting rod. Nothing that some tape wouldn't cure, but it wasn't the rod that my G Loomis rods are so it sits in a closet. Yes the G's are way more expensive but it's what I like. I skimp on reels but not the rods.

I haven't used one, so no comment from me. http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1738126-first-look-abu-garcia-vendetta-casting-rod
Champ188 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Can't expect a lot from a rod under $100 these days. Actually, $150 is probably closer to the upper middle class of bass rods these days.

My favorite square bill, lipless crank, spinnerbait, and buzzbait rods are some Quantum IM6 rods that I found on clearance at WM for 22.00 apiece. I originally bought 2 (a med. and a med-hvy) then ran back and got 3 more. Guide spacing and reel seats are great, I only had to replace the tip-top guides because the original ones had a bad angle to them. I just love those rods, they feel good and have helped me catch thousands of fish.

I just love those rods, they feel good and have helped me catch thousands of fish. I had a pair of those exact rods. Lost one overboard last summer. And yes. I've caught more fish with those than any rod I own. I don't spend a lot on rods these days. I can make them work for what I want and I can feel bites even in the cheap cheap rods. I've also held my H20 Express rid in one hand and a $350 GLoomis rod of same size and line in the other (drop shotting). The minimal difference in sensitivity wss maybe worth an extra $10-20. Definitely not $300. So I buy a rid on how it feels in my hands, balance, weight, backbone, rod tip flexibility for what I want to use if for, comfort, and rid guide quality. One man's quality is another man's GLoomis. I told myself that I was going to own a GL one day. Now I think otherwise after using one for a while. Need marine repair? aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I have both cheap and nice rods. I feel like my line makes the biggest difference in sensitivity. Braid with a leader on my spinners and Flouro on the casters. I have caught more fish this year on my $15 lews rod as i have my Falcon Caras. Maybe im just not good enough to know the difference. I like my high end stuff, but im slowly shying away from them. Daryk Campbell Sr and J-Doc 2
