Don't know if anyone else has seen or heard  it but I got a text this morning that here was a small Black bear spotted/seen walking down one of the roads in the Hawker point campground area over the 4th of July weekend. I guess photos of the Bear are circling around Facebook. I have yet to personally see (have not  been looking ) it yet but from my friend that I got the text from he  say's its  no hoax.  I guess be careful out there and always keep and eye out!

We were camping at Hawker and on Friday night June 30 the park ranger from the Corp was going campsite to campsite letting everyone know that a Black was spotted within the Hawker Public use area and he made a point of saying that it was confirmed by the Conservation Department.  They were wanting campers to be aware and not leave food out and around.

We saw one just south of Joplin last year. Small young bear. Makes you think before you wander through the woods turkey hunting.

I have hunting land near bear creek and found bear scat near the cabin about 4 weeks ago when cutting the grass. wife brought it to my attention as I was cutting grass. too large for canine so I "GOOGLED" bear scat and the first picture that came up looked exactly the same....
