fishinwrench Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 They will just take the same "size restrictions" as LOZ has, in the sense that size is limited by the roads.... If the roads are big enough to haul it in then it's not too big for the lake.

Neither the Water Patrol nor the Corp of Engineer have the ability to create legislation to limit the size and type of vessel on a lake. These government organizations have to operate within the framework of the laws and regulations laid out for them. They might have very minor interpretations of laws that have to be sorted out at the court level, but they cannot create new laws. Elected officials are the ones you have to be speaking with. Legislators are the only ones with the ability to create law. (well in theory, although lately the supreme court seems to also be making laws) And just my opinion but these boats are already here, and these people that own them have rights too (and likely more finances). So assuming you get legislation in place to limit size and type of vessels, the ones already here will likely be grandfathered so it will never get any better. And heaven forbid the Environmental Protection Agency get asked to help. We will all be regulated to paddle craft, hemp fishing line, and using rocks for weights. I'm not an anarchist, I do believe laws help make a civilized society; but, I'm not sure I believe taking away others freedoms is the direction I want to go. I'll choose more freedom for all and adjust my way of life as opposed to trying to create more laws that rarely help and always wind up with loop holes for those that can afford it. But that's just me, at least for now, you are free to disagree and I encourage you to do what you believe is right. There are workarounds that would at least address both issues. No wake under bridges, no wake in creek arms, etc. Those would bug a lot of bass guys too, but they are in place in some other states. magicwormman 1

Ellros Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 They need to teach "Wake management and respect" or have a section to sign off on when people go to get their boat certification. It's required for boat operators born after 1985, correct?
Champ188 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 I'm afraid that ship sailed a generation or so ago when the liberal mindset decided it was abusive to teach children respect by applying correction liberally to their backside. abkeenan, tho1mas, Leitsout and 6 others 8 1

I know I'm gonna get blasted for not hating on cruisers and wake surf boats..... I changed my mind. Who do I call? If the mostly invisible (in my area) Water Patrol and the USACE don't have the "ability to limit the size and type of vessel on a Lake" then they must have some "ability" to declare how that vessel is operated. There have been occasions in the past when the Highway Patrol issued NO Wake orders for LOZ so they must have some authority to decree how vessels are to be operated. Yeah, God forbid you get another group of unelected bureaucrats like the EPA involved, the USACE is bad enough. Yes, the Battleships in a Bathtub that are already here would most likely be Grandfathered but new regulations insuring the safe and healthful use of the Lake by all would prevent the growth in numbers of those tubs from what we have to deal with now. 22 hours ago, tapout said:
