crazy4fishin Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 As Mayo said to Sgt. Foley....."I got no where else to go" to give a fishing report. BTW I had to google the quotes as I have not watched the movie in a LONG time....and it was my wife's idea....but I digress. Around here there are mostly no wake NRD flood control lakes - one opened up a couple of years ago about 20 miles west of town ....so I dunk the 250HP boat Sunday afternoon and punch it...tapping 1000 RPMS =/- and go to my first spot ..... A little back ground - they stock these lakes with a variety of fish from Northern to perch and everything in between. Most guys are trying to catch crappie and walleye so that leaves the Bass alone to some extent. WT - 84 with over cast skies....... Average lake depth - 20' Thought I would be a bank beater.....tried a little flippin = nada.....shallow crank = nada....jig = nada so I drug out ole faithful....The D*NED (Dave Ned head) with a green pumpkin Z. Started catching about a doz the next hour with a surprise thrown in! There - I feel better - thanks internet friends C4F merc1997 Bo, Ellros, big c and 11 others 13 1 Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
Members Lake Lover Posted August 11, 2017 Members Posted August 11, 2017 C4F. Did you get those at wanahoo? Never thought of using Ned up here. My last outing there was fairly uneventful, but, it was an afternoon on the water. 😎 crazy4fishin 1
crazy4fishin Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Lake lover - yes it was Wannaho....I cruised up the west side and was slow dragging the little guy from the shallow (2-3') to the drop off....it went to 8-12' That is when they would pick it up. The bite was soft. Yeah - I use the D*Ned at all of the local lakes....it is different enough, given the fishing pressure, that the fish really take to it. It also dominates at Prarie Queen. BTW I counted 30+ rigs in the Wannaho lot when I was there not to mention the kayak armada! C4F magicwormman 1 Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker

Welcome to Nebraska! ☺ Thanks for the info, I will have to give him a try. Have not been to Prairie Queen yet, but have heard young man on 192 dodge is giving a few up. Good luck!
Ellros Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I'll be moving back to Omaha next month. Fishing the Eastern NE lakes is a big difference from Table Rock. On the good side, no more having to deal with wake boats and tubers. On the bad side... idiots at the boat ramp instead... I always figured the Ned would be a killer in those lakes. Very surprised noone ever mentions using it there. And I just saw a video on Facebook about the new lake being built in NW Omaha (Papio #15). Nice vid of the structure they are putting in. crazy4fishin 1
Members NebSchmidty Posted August 12, 2017 Members Posted August 12, 2017 Never would I have thought I'd come to OAF and find a report with pics from Wanahoo. And let's just dispense with all this ned talk in relation to said lake. It will certainly NOT catch fish at wanahoo or anywhere else around these parts. Nope, no fish. Those wanahoo bass will completely ignore anything you throw in a gp/red or Canada craw on one of Dave's 1/16oz heads. Spend your hard earned money on something else if you want a 30+ fish morning. With that said, let's get back to normal debates about wart knockoffs and frustrations over increased lake traffic. magicwormman, Ellros, Quillback and 2 others 3 2
