I don't really want to get into a pissing contest, but five years is correct if the event occurred already in 2017. So that would be 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Correct sir..but us "dipshit" fisheries types can't do math.... right wrench?

I guess the bowfishing stuff impacts the economy positively as well, but I see those fish as wasted.

I think the carp would be tremendous fun on rods and reels vs an unused dead rotting fish.

waddington ny a town of less than 1000 people hosts a youth carp event every year that brings over $500k each year to the local economy, thats JUST one event..over the year euro carp anglers spend and support they tiny towns economy, probably due to UK actor who plays Draco Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies Tom Felton

I agree with this. I would live to bowfish but have a real hang up on this part of it.

I think bow-fishing has its place... I would love to see Stockton thinned of its population of 5-8#ers..since the Tiger Muskies and pike are no longer stocked the Ave size of the commons has gotten a lot smaller...you just don't see the bigger carp like the lake once had..I'd like to blame Bfing...but the sizes were getting smaller long before the growth of Bfing

Guess depends on definition of "wasted" reportedly used:

"... According to Bass Pro, all the rough fish that were boated will be turned into organic fertilizer. ..."

Native Americans taught us that years ago?

well a poll in the court of public opinion would say so....as an example is a Cow nose ray shoot in Patuxent River in Maryland an event held for 20 years has the below video go viral, and makes CBS, CNN news then it gets brought up in Maryland state legislature.....All it took as ONE video JUST one..the vote wasn't even close.

Maryland Senate Bill 268
Cownose Ray Fishery Management Plan and Moratorium on Contests
MD State Legislature page for SB268
Summary

what do you thinks going to happen when fish other than bighead and silver carp get on national TV? the image of those fish the kids feed at the marina being chipper shredded and turned into compost? The LOZ/beaver/TR  party-wake making crowd will call their congress rep and Maryland type ban comes here...I don't want to see that...but we keep giving the Antis the ammo to take away our outdoor sports.....

See we can google and post just like you providing a response. Cow nose rays are depleting oyster beds. I bet those influential oyster eating folks out there are not going to cry fowl about too many being shot and besides that I have seen and not experienced that they are good eating. That and the economic impact they could cause to the oyster fishery. They eat and destroy other shell fish species and the fragile grass beds.

COWNOSE RAYS AQUITTED: NOT GUILTY OF DECIMATING CHESAPEAKE OYSTERS,  thats by the Smithsonian institute, arguably the most respected authority on all thing nature... the world's largest museum and research complex, with 19 museums, 9 research centers, and affiliates around the world. and the ONE video allowed the Maryland senate to sweep through a ban literally unopposed...
