That's only six or seven trips.  We had days with 200+ good ones.

Meh on the Blue Cat, just remembered why I haven't had it in years.  Good, clean, white meat just on the mushy side similar to crappie.  Gotta find more White's and Walleye.  Might even try a Kentucky.

I can tell very little difference in freshly caught & cooked white flaky fish species. Some will hold in the freezer for awhile, some won't. Trout & salmon need to be wild or feral for good flavor. Indifferent to catfish.

Try freezing the fillets in a solid block of ice.  I started doing this a few years ago with White Bass and the fillets keep for over a year with no change in texture and most importantly, no freezer burn.

To OP, I'm a huge fan of White Bass fillets for the same reason you are.   The fillets are thicker and firmer.  Hold up well in the frying oil.

I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.

Didn't see any Suckers which should be at the Top.

Kudos to Oneshot for reminding me about suckers.  Also to the list add goggle eye and flathead belly meat.

I agree. I forgot about suckers. I enjoy a nice sucker fish fry every now and then... riverside, of course.

On little crappies and bluegills i like to leave the tail on one of the fillets.  Its a crispy little treat.

No truer words have been said. Tails fried crispy and a dash of salt. Mighty fine!
