JUNGLE JIM 1 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I caught a couple nice ones today. Water is clear and cold but they liked black 3/32 hair jigs. Caught 14 in three hours, either fat pigs or dinks. Nothing in between sizes. County park lake. Johnsfolly, BilletHead, Gavin and 4 others 7
Johnsfolly Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Very nice bass. Congrats on a fine day fishing!
JUNGLE JIM 1 Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 Here is a better look at what the jig looks like. Tied some in four different sizes this morning. Trying to cover all the bases. snagged in outlet 3 1
Gavin Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Nice fish, and a good looking tie. Hard to top a black hair jig. JUNGLE JIM 1 1
JUNGLE JIM 1 Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Still eating the hair jigs. Fished a different county lake today and caught a monster bass. For reference the second blue thread on rod is 17.5 inches from rod butt. No scale but this was literally as long as my arm plus some. Guessed it at 25 inches and believe it was over 9 lbs. Caught an 8.5 before and this was much fatter. Probably eating the large shad that are in the lake, maybe even a rainbow or two. Pictured also is the jig I caught it with, 3/32 black hair jig on a 1/0 Gamakatsu 114 jig hook. Man I love those hooks. BilletHead and JestersHK 2
JUNGLE JIM 1 Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 I did release her but had second thoughts afterward. Maybe catch her in a couple months and she will weigh even more.
top_dollar Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 How do you fish your hair jigs? Do you tip them with a plastic at all?
JUNGLE JIM 1 Posted May 18, 2018 Author Posted May 18, 2018 I don't fish plastics with the craft hair, no need for it. Was casting it out, letting it settle to the bottom and a couple slow turns on the handle and let it settle to the bottom again.
JestersHK Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Jungle Jim I think I know that first pond! That second pond bass is a real dandy. I'd love to stick a pig like that!
JUNGLE JIM 1 Posted May 20, 2018 Author Posted May 20, 2018 Both lakes are easy to get to, fish were caught a couple minutes from my truck. Started fishing in the afternoon more this year during cold water period and it seems to be working. JestersHK 1
