Actually I have become so good at it sometimes I only have to fight them for a second or two before I lose er I mean release them. I catch hundreds of fish that I release soon after the hook set☺!
thewhitesnoop Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Since Chief just got called a stalker and I don't want to get accused of trolling again by the fishing celebrities on here, I am just going to say what an amazing pair of fish!
MOPanfisher Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Hogwally, are largemouth as much of a problem on the Meremec as the spots. I always hear about the spots but almost nothing about LM. Hog Wally 1

thewhitesnoop Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I'll field this one: No, they aren't a problem. The only problem is it would be nice to see more of them. I suspect there is a better population of largemouth than they let on, but they are finicky due to the clearer waters of the Meramec compared to their more prefered haunts of murkier rivers or lakes.

I always hear about the spots but almost nothing about LM. I think the largemouth aren't as happy living here as the spots. I don't personally think they thrive. I back this idea up by the fact that after major dam over flowing floods, there's a lot of big largemouth in the river for couple years straight. Like the 6 lb 2 oz one I caught last summer.
rps Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Great fish Hog Wally! I consider CGB a friend - I sold him a canoe, and he says nice things about my recipes. But, he does like to stir things. Chief Grey Bear 1
