Hogwally, are largemouth as much of a problem on the Meremec as the spots.  I always hear about the spots but almost nothing about LM.

I'll field this one:

No, they aren't a problem. The only problem is it would be nice to see more of them. 

I suspect there is a better population of largemouth than they let on, but they are finicky due to the clearer waters of the Meramec compared to their more prefered haunts of murkier rivers or lakes.

I think the largemouth aren't as happy living here as the spots. I don't personally think they thrive.  I back this idea up by the fact that after major dam over flowing floods, there's a lot of big largemouth in the river for couple years straight.  Like the 6 lb 2 oz one I caught last summer.
