I don’t know how anyone could fault someone seeking a better life for themselves and their families. I think anyone on this Forum would do the same if we were born there.  I’ve seen plenty of folks born here that have no respect for themselves or the environment. I don’t like the illegal drugs coming into this country anymore than the next guy, but you can’t put everyone into the same category. I agree that steps need to be taken to curtail illegal immigration I’m just not exactly sure what they are.

have you been to Noel before the poultry plant went in? much less after? its not about why they came here, or how much $ is spent supporting bringing in refuges, or if they were properly vetted, or ask the people on Grand lake how much worse the water quality is now, its about what has happened because of it

perhaps they should have built the poultry plant in a blighted area in Detroit, not in a scenic area that is forever trashed, I do not begrudge people bettering themselves coming here to the USA, but not at the expense of Americans already in need, and when we have to have our natural beauty juggled up like it has, wading past a pipe dumping caca water into a Ozark stream isn't worth it

MONKEYS? what monkeys?

I understand your frustration. It’s going to be up to the folks in that area to keep pressure on those Industries to do the right thing. Unfortunately not enough people care about it like you do. I hope it  gets better.

Some folks at Tyson should have gotten jail time for willful discharge of chemicals into a state waterway. But Big Ag and the Farm lobby own most state legislatures.

Problem is they're soon to be if not already outnumbered.

So seeking a better life overrides our immigration laws, I don't think so. Hard to ever convince me you are a good and moral person when you start by breaking  the law. We have the only country in the world that has little to no border enforcement. Mexico's southern border is less porous than ours.

This event happened in 2014. The recent $2M federal fine was the result of the criminal case for violation of the Clean Water Act. Missouri's civil suit over the event was settled in 2015;

That document answers (part of) Wrench's question about where the money went (for the civil settlement). The $2M for the feds will be a different story.

I can't dance like I used to.

Breaking which law? Just making sure I’m on the same page.
