From what ive read about Optimax/PRoXS that not letting them warm up can lead to big problems.  Big thread about it on BBC.  I always let mine warm up a while.   Cant stand seeing those guys dump it in and take off full throttle.  I guess it just isnt how i was raised

I looked at a boat last year to buy, the guy put in on muffs started it up instantly revved it to the limiter a few times.  That was enough for me to pass on that deal

Wrench here is a question for you. I see guys at the ramps and docks warming up and letting engines idle for long periods. I was told it has no justification, that the engines are ready to go just a minute or two after starting. I see folks litterally put loads of hrs on motors just sitting at the docks or ramps

Allowing it to warm up a bit before putting a heavy load on the motor is a good idea whether it's a new state of the art model, or an old clunker.  It doesn't take very long though.  When I run them here at the shop on 54° well water the thermostats open up in about 3-4 minutes.

When you launch, if you let it idle while you go park your truck then you are ok to blast off when you get back to the boat.

Exactly what i do.  I always have since my first boat 30 years ago, and do the same for riding mower, vehicles, anything with an engine.  My dad was a sucker about thes things, and i carried that to my kids.  Cant hurt anything by letting it warm to operating temp.

This makes enough sense to me to let it warm up.  People get so caught up in how many hours are on motors its crazy.  Mine has over 1000 now.  My motor came off a pontoon and 90% of the hours are under 3000.  Runs like a scalded yard ape now that its on something it is to big for :)

I have a 1991 200hp Looper no major problems, Gone through 3 power packs in 5 years $150 each. I do most of my own work.

Repeated power pack failures are usually caused from weak timer base voltage.   Could be a bad timer base, or weak magnets on the flywheel hub.

I bet if you tested the Timer base DVA you'll find output between 2-4v instead of between 4-6v.

I have a good timer base AND a flywheel.....if you need either. :) Actually I have a complete 200 looper that I am parting out.
