I think there are about 18-20 other states that require it as well. Well let's see.....I've had fishing licenses in Mo, Ar, Tn, Ga, Fl, Sc, Ok, Tx, Az, Mn, Wi, Mi, and was never asked for ss#.
Flysmallie Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Oklahoma has had mine since I took a hunter's safety course in 1984. Texas has it since my MO license # used to be my SSN#. Probably KS and AR too. Maybe even AL. In China, Nuevo León, Mexico we had to fill out our own licenses. We could have put anything we wanted on there. They just wanted the cash.

They just wanted the cash I always wonder why anybody even bothers ASKING. As if they really plan on taking your word for it. Kinda like cops asking for your name, or "is this your current address?"", or anything else for that matter. You know they are gonna verify the information, so why even bother asking you in the first place? Everybody wants to play head games.

Not sure how long its been since you fished in all of those states, but the following states currently require your SSN to purchase a fishing license: Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Utah, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Georgia.... I know I'm missing a couple, but those are the states I can think of off the top of my head. There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!

Well it seems like just yesterday. 🙄
oneshot Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Isn't SSW# not to be a form of ID? Well this year I no longer need Small Game or Fishing Licenses. oneshot
skeeter Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I know how I feel about it...and it's another load of Government bureaucrat horse dung. Screw them, I'll pay a fine for no license before they get mine because there is no valid reason they need your Soc. Sec. number to issue a fishing or hunting license. No wonder so many I.D. thefts are occurring and illegals are easily producing SS #'s to drain our welfare budgets....this is the reason. Remember back when you used to sign up for your SS card and were directly informed that the SS number was not to be used for Identification ? Remember when MO started requiring SS numbers on your driver's license and we all raised Cain and got that nonsense stopped ? THIS is more of that nonsense. Stop being a nation of sheep and tell them they are wrong and demand immediate action. Contacting my State Senator and Representative about this garbage right now. Bombard them with emails ! If this truly is, as some think, a tool used for child support enforcement, it is a very poor "tool" and there are far better, more effective ways to corral deadbeats.

Not exactly a "revolution" but a demand for responsible government ( I know, lately, that's an oxymoron). If you've ever gone through the expense of having your Identity stolen, which access to a Soc. Sec. number enables, you'd understand my concerns. It ain't fun and ain't cheap. There is no such thing as "secure storage" of a number on any Computer system just like there is no such thing as an unbreakable lock. Quillback and liphunter 2
joeD Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Make sure no one sees your address when you go to the post office to buy stamps and mail photos to your mom. snagged in outlet 3 1
