That's interesting.  That's not that far from me.  I know they're out ther, just don't really see them!

They found one dead a few miles upstream from where we camped a month ago.  My buddy asked me if I was packing that nite, silly question.  But we were in a remote campsite and thinking of local meth heads.

400 Lb Black Bear Found Dead on Current River.

Conversation arose this weekend as we spent time on the 11 Pt River.   They had spotted one in Jefferson County near a swing set.  Little did we know this one was being dredged out of the river.  They are here, they are in the woods, be Bear Aware.  Or try and out swim them, looks like they have problems with water.

It's almost bound to end in a fiasco at best, tragedy at worst. It's hard enough up in northern Minnesota where folks are used to them.

Giant, generally inadvertently, destructive animals.

Or just be certain not to be the slowest runner in your group. 😆

I found it hard to believe that it drowned, looks pretty healthy in photos.  Blood out of nose and mouth, probably head trauma from a random jet boat.   Curious to see full autopsy.  But you seldom see one swimming around unless its a polar bear.

If someone hit one with a jet boat it was an awesome feat. I've run by them in rivers up north, you'd have to try to hit one.
