I been wondering about the durability of them in rivers when running shoals. Would seem the pedal type if it were top or the other thing would take a beating if you did not get out in time to slide it through.

As far as standing I fish with a butt seat. A practice that may be coming to a end. I like to thru myself out of my friends big 18ft Jon boat last evening. It has two decks a full floor and is wide and fairly deep. I was stepping down into the cobalt from the back deck and missed the seat and wound up on the floor. I like to say it was because I misjudged a small wake but the truth is I hater to admit was that at about a about a year and a half from 80 I am just not as sure footed as I was. My other buddy has a 18 ft bass boat and getting down from his back seat is a test in courage I think. I look at those kayaks and know they are out of my class. I imagine I will finish my days in my big old 19 ft Targa.

Mine has held up pretty well and it's been drug around a bunch. But it doesn't have the pedal drive. I just use a paddle.

I don't stand in mine. I used to fall out of a bassboat all the time so I know I'm going over in a kayak. But it is very stable. I've screwed up on some pretty good runs on the river and just knew I was going to flip, but I never have. Some of them are very stable. My biggest issue is getting in and out or on and off if you want to call it that. It would be easier if I was in better shape probably. But my seat sits really low. I think raising it or buying a different yak with a higher seat would help a lot.

Paddling a yak tends to wear me out between my shoulders after a short while.   I can paddle a canoe all day and not be sore at all.

Mines been dragged across a lot of gravel bars also and it's just scuffed up on the bottom.  They make plastic welders to repair them if they ever do get a cut or gouge in them.

They a pretty durable but do not use the pedal motor hobie gizmo on a river. My biggest gripe is loading and lack of gear capacity, but no big deal. They fish well and are easy to paddle for a novice. My   9 & 11 year old girls do really well on their little SOT kayaks. They are not ready to pilot a canoe yet.

Love my Kayak... My only complaint is I wish I could use it more often! Haven't had it on LOZ but its perfect on the Smallmouth Streams!
