Good answer Ronnie and Dale. Chief I missed the SW part of the title and focused on his statement about finding any kind of pickerel in southern MO. I gave him the rivers that I felt that with some travel would likely be his best bet to encounter and land pickerel in the state. He and I have talked about the grass pickerel in Crane creek before. Not sure that they are consistently found in the upper reaches of that creek. I don't know enough about that creek once it runs below the trout fishing access points to know if the grass pickerel are more plentiful downstream. Now if he wanted to tangle with possible futility there are musky in Fellows lake😌! Chief Grey Bear 1

Gavin Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 Musky are not hard to catch...You just have to go were musky are (NW Wisconsin & Minnesota). I don't think that Chain pickerel are common anywhere in SWMO....Do you catch any near you Chief?
Chief Grey Bear Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 Ronnie and I have talked about chasing them over here a few times. We just haven't done it yet. I think they are somewhat common in Crane. I have fished it 1000 times and never caught one. But I have never been targeting the waters of that creek that they inhibit. And I have only been there during the winter. I did talk to Tim a few years ago about fishing for them in Crane. He gave me some great information I just can't remember what all it was. I believe he catches them quite often. I will pass your musky info along to Harps. I think that may be exactly what he is doing wrong.😂😂 Chief Grey Bear Living is dangerous to your health Owner Ozark Fishing Expeditions Co-Owner, Chief Executive Product Development Team Jerm Werm Executive Pro Staff Team Agnew Executive Pro Staff Paul Dallas Productions Executive Pro Staff Team Heddon, River Division Chief Primary Consultant Missouri Smallmouth Alliance Executive Vice President Ronnie Moore Outdoors
fishinwrench Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 Caught a bunch in the canals of Okeechobee, but have never been very fascinated with them, kind of a nuisance. We cooked a couple of them up one night and they tasted just like the crappie and bluegill they were fried with. Clean fillets though, not as much like Pike as I expected.
