Question about Nanofil

It seems like it would be a good line to use, but my experience with it was not a good one.  Not sure what I was doing wrong at the time but it would break on hook sets.  A lot.  Like just about every fish.  I was using 12lb line too.  This was several years ago when I first started using spinning gear so maybe I was too aggressive in my hook sets or something but I didn't like it and it didn't stay on my reel very long.

 Furious Glen knot is the only clean one that comes to mind.

Stands for Freaking Good Knot and you know what happens when you go knot for knot with me son.......not talking about the FG but the one I tie on everything else.

All I will ever use it for are crappie. I just think it will not sink well and reach the depth with 1/32 jigs for me. I have 25 yards on there now. I will put the rest on another spinning reel and fish Jerk baits with it starting in about 6 weeks around here

I normally ease off the drag on my reels since braI'd doesn't stretch.  Every hook set get a rrrttt of drag slipping.  I don't know that I could break 12# Nanofil on a hook set if I had to.  When I was tying Nanofil direct to a jig I used something called a fishing fool knot, worked well.

It's probably all in my mind but I just couldn't use it without a leader. 

I think Ham could do a test on trout with and without it.  It would be interesting.

I think a leader knot has failed on me ONCE on a fish. If you hang up and try to pull free, it’s 50/50. 

Ill be glad to demonstrate Alberto to anyone that fishes with me or just tie your leader on

I use that knot for braid and even fluoro to fluoro and have never had a break.  Nano broke nearly every time.  It's not a hard knot to tie.  Always was the nano that broke.  Never had a knot left.

I don’t understand why ppl use Fluorcarbon lines for leader material. I’ve never read an explanation or justification for putting up with the difficulty getting good knots from fluro. What upsides offset the potential downsides?

Less visible.   Do you think it could be the fluoro causing knot breakage?
