I have heard a lot of terrible sounds in the marsh from high dollar calls and low dollar calls. I’ve also killed birds with cheapies and very expensive calls. For those reading, remember this when hunting ducks: Location, location, location. I was a pretty fair caller when set up where the ducks wanted to be. By being a pretty fair caller in those situations I mean I could actually be quiet. And same with you on inexpensive calls. Killed more than a few ducks with Faulks WA 33 and Yentzen sure shot calls. Both were about ten dollars at the time. Reading birds in the air is almost as important as anything else in duck hunting, along with the ability to sit still. slothman, Hunter91, tho1mas and 1 other 4
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 I'd have to dig out my old calls. I believe they all Herter's. The steel shot laws drove me away from the game. Sold all my decoys and my reloader after that. I never went to a Halloween party until I was in my 30's because we were always going duck hunting.
nomolites Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 I’ll shot a many ducks that fell to the siren song of a pair of Olt DR-115s....two on the lanyard all the time(to alternate)and a Haydel VTM-90 just to add variety. Nothing fancy required. Mike Gavin and snagged in outlet 3 2
Gavin Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 My grandfather had some black Olt’s, and a Herter’s with a metal reed. They might be in the basement somewhere.
Members Buck Posted January 1, 2019 Members Posted January 1, 2019 I have one duck call on my lanyard, and it is cutdown PS Olt D2 Keyhole. I absolutely love it, it's from the 40s, sounded like a duck then, sounds like a duck now. If anyone has keyhole Olts laying around, let me know and I will probably buy them. snagged in outlet 3 and Hunter91 2
Hunter91 Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 My best call is my son Once he learned to call I leave most of it to him and his buddies when they are along. I used a haydell for many years as well as the old olt calls. Never said I was a good caller but can get the job done when I had to. I like to call when we are hunting on the x. Makes me feel like I know what I am doing :). Johnsfolly, snagged in outlet 3, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 4

Quote Before their hit show, the family ran a very successful duck call business called Duck Commander, which is still active today. The name represents both the company and the product. They also sell other duck hunting merchandise, as well as deer hunting products and merchandise under the Buck Commander brand. In 2012 alone, The Robertsons made an incredible $40 million in revenue, and that was before the show, which surely added to the already impressive sales.

fishinwrench Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Poe's crankbaits probably never netted 40M......and everybody I know owns at least a couple.
Devan S. Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 They probably made 40M on apparel, cups, boxed DVD sets, vinyl stickers for your truck, and all the non-duck hunters that go through their tourist trap store that buy a duck call. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
