Jerk Bait Problem

Having trouble not hooking fish on jerk bait. Seems like they are swatting at it. I will have them on for a second and they come off. I tried changing color but same problem. Looking for suggestions. Thanks

Sounds to me like you have either found a school of juvenile Whites/crappie.....or they are all dinks.

I don't get how they pull on those trappy little needles and then spit them out.  I'd have five barbs in three fingers.

I think it’s the Tactical Bassin guys that had a YouTube underwater video showing fish bite a jerker over and over and never get hooked.

Color does not matter as much as cadence and size. A bass or a brown trout should eat the front hook darn near every time if all is well. Tail hook, something is off our you just caught a dink rainbow. Debarb your baits. Easier to remove them from your hands when you get stuck, and you will.

White bass will body slam a bait lots of times.  Especially if they are chasing it and it suddenly stops.  It feels just like a bite.
