Finally got out, missed all of Jan which is unusual for me.  Roughly 3# Hybrid on an A-rig, 65# braid and Extra Heavy rod.

Next one I hooked I handed the rod to my 7yr old and let her have at it.  Hers was around 7# on a Med action Jerkbait rod and 10# Floro.  MUCH more interesting battle for her, took probably 10 min to land.  Kept going under the boat, peeling off line, running this way and that way.  She had a blast, said that was the best fight she ever had :)

Congrats for you letting her have the rod. Bet that she will remember that for years to come. Been trying to get my daughter onto some of those freight train fish for her to experience that kind of fight.

I too missed all of January... First time in a while.  Life and weather just didn't allow me to get down and fish.  Finally this morning myself and a few of my buddies hit the Roubidoux in Waynesville, and had a great morning.

Here my first, wasn't much but it was good to get back out there.  Caught some better ones but I'll post a quick trip report in a bit

Lucky to not have a first fish, but fishes, if you count the deceased rainbow in the picture.  Caught Jan. 1

And I was the lucky one that netted it for him. Beautiful fish. I had just caught a 20+ in the exact same spot and was sittin on the bank retyin when he caught this one (or 2).
