That's awesome about the veggies and fruit!

Blister beetles suck, they decided to show up in the garden this week 😣 💩

Lawdy, we have suffered this season. I won’t rehash it all now. But, we’ve also had a lot of tomatoes...a lot of cracked and cat faced ones. Those have either been dried or had the sweet spot cut out and the rest pitched. But...there’s this one that is darn near perfect. A very large, clean Black Krim:

I think the squirrels and long-necked climbing turtles are getting tired of maters. Possibly gettin’ canker sores 😄

Tomatoes are absolutely loving this hot weather, but all the moisture is causing lots of splits, oh well still delicious.  Wife wanted one cherry or grape tomato so I planted 2, she said tonight I am not picking 200 little maters every other day, so I had her pick one and the other had a terrible accident.  And not sure what happened but my cucumbers went belly up, nothever kills them, but after a early rush they quit too.  While out there I asked how the zuchinni were doing, if they were still producing or if they were dine.  Wife said, "I don't know if they are done or not but I am done with them", not gonna mess up a woman who will pick garden stuff so over the fence they went too.  A few minutes mowing things down and I now have a small space to plant turnips, assuming of course I don't sow them too thick which of course I will do.  A tiny patch is capable of producing all I need and plenty left over.  Even my canteloupesare looking a but rough but they get to stay and hopefully ripen the ones that are set, I do LOVE good canteloupes.

Same here, 3 cocktail mater bushes about 5ft tall and 5ft wide.  One would have been enough.

Yep, picking lots of green tomatoes now.  Especially the Parks brothers kind. The longer they stay on the vine the worse they look.  Direct full sun for  about  12 hours every day is cooking them. Evidently they don't like temps over 92 either.   Anything close to being ripe was blossom end rot ,splitting, cracking. We haven't had a lot of rain recently, and I work hard to prevent things but  what else to do besides let nature run its course. First time growing Parks brothers.  They are great producers though!  One of the plants has 45 green tomatoes on it and so far no cracking or splitting . The most so far this year for a single plant. Baseball ,tennis ball sized. Lately just lucky to get enough ripe ones for my family  to eat.

worried about  my Belgium now. I have 8 of them.   They are very tall and if they get any bigger they will just have to flop over I guess. Every plant has at least 15 to 20 fist size or bigger green ones that will be turning  soon.  They aren't split or cracked, and look amazing.  Just afraid the weather is gonna wreak havoc on them right when they are ripening.   I depend on my mater crop as a supplemental income. Have sold over 600 this year already and this next run is gonna be a critical harvest for me since the ripening Parks brothers tomatoes look like crap right now and I would be embarrassed to even sell one. Fingers crossed

Ended up with 5 small sugar baby watermelons.  I mean small , a little bigger than a softball  but the best tasting watermelons I've had in a long time.  Plenty of seeds but the taste more than made up for that. Saved some seed for next year.  The next round of melons  should be done in early September maybe.

8/16 -need to plant fall spinach & lettuce. Awfully dry here - have to water every other day.

Monday I'm planting Simpson  lettuce and spinach but have to see what kind of spinach seed the store has  . Got a salad mix seed pack will try it also but it has chard in it and I'm not excited about it. Haven't found a chard I like so far. Weather permitting of course. Seems the forecast here changes every 8 hours

What was left after the hornworm  feasting festival,🎊🍅🌿

Every morning, every evening  removing caterpillars  from the leaves😵

Plant some dill around the mater's, it seems to help with the hornworms.

Swallowtails love dill as well.

It wasn't a bad year for me, had really good summer squash, for some reason the squash bugs never were much of a problem.  Tomatoes were good for most of the month of July,  got some decent cukes and the beans were good early in June.

Not much left now, wilt got most of the tomato plants, still have 3 plants left with a few green tomatoes so may get a few more.  Planted some beans in early August, they are doing well and should get some in October.
