LittleRedFisherman Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Fishing shows Have changed some over the years, some more than others. Rayo Breckinridge was a local guy here who was a farmer like myself and chased a dream later in life that took off when he won the classic. His son is posting some old shows on his YouTube page. I watch them as he posts them. For me, he has always been my favorite, a simple format but worked. Many round here what you saw in the show was what he was in person. Here’s one he recently posted I enjoy the commercials as well from this era Kinda a blast from the past! Daryk Campbell Sr 1 There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Foghorn Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Used to watch Rayo and Jerry McKinnis when I went to college at Jonesboro years ago. Enjoyed their programs. LittleRedFisherman 1
fishinwrench Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Good stuff there ! 👍 I don't watch fishing shows much anymore, but year before last I got a call asking if I had time to swap out a sonar unit that day, said his wouldn't power up at all and he had a new unit with him. I said yeah if they could be here before lunch I could do it. Next thing ya know in pulls Mark Zona. As I was preparing to remove the console unit I noticed a loose ground connection, I hooked it up and his original unit powered right up so it turned out to be a quick fix. He's a really cool guy. I had never watched his stuff before then but I do now. His enthusiasm and acceptance when things don't go as planned, and how he can turn a so-so day into something fun to watch is true professionalism. IMO he is the best one going right now. Zona is one of the shows I always Dvr and MLF. Also Bill Dance more for nostalgia than anything. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Jerry Rapp Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 thanks for posting this LRF. I enjoy the old shows. Lynn Dollar has a bunch of the old Bassmasters and FLWs on You Tube. I wish the old Virgil Ward shows were available on You Tube. LittleRedFisherman 1

Johnsfolly Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 I was a huge fan of the Fishing Hole. Though I tend to watch more hunting shows than fishing shows lately, I do like Zona since he can be hilarious. I remember one show were he was convinced that they were using. 3D camera. Cracked me up everytime they would push a bass up into the view to get the 3D effect. Even my wife was laughing.
Terrierman Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Those old flashers. That made me want to go back to Truman in April. Thanks Bret.
Haris122 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 I'm not familiar with a whole lot of them but I always liked Bill Dance's blooper reels when he got pissed. It would remind me of my own temperament under similar circumstances.

I saw Bill Dance and crew filming on the White river just upstream from Cotter this past Thursday. He was fishing with Donald Cranor and there was a second boat with a cameraman. Will have to watch for this episode.
