Might have been me.  I've done it more than once.   I've neglected to remove the transom tie-downs even more.

I was backing my buddy in a few weeks ago that forgot them at Taney.  All of the sudden I see the trailer and boat drift into the rear view mirror.

I watched a guy who forgot his transom straps and the trailer drifted over the curb on the side ramp.  I asked if he wanted help pushing it back over.  He never answered.  Just got in the truck and gunned it.  High centered the trailer on the curb for about 15' until it finally jumped back on the ramp.  He took off the straps, backed it in and never said a word.

Ive had a Motor Mate for years. IT hold the engine solid as a rock. Ive never really needed my transom "saved"   If it can survive bouncing around on the lake in the summer with all the wake boats and cabin cruisers a few pot holes on the way home wont have any effect on it.  The transom saver and motor mate debate will never be resolved. I gurantee the motor mate holds the motor much more stable than the old stick style though

Oh it's definitely resolved.   What's keeping your motor stabil with those type braces is the hydraulic system putting extreme pressure on the pivot housing.   I'm not sure that you understand how your outboard is put together.  All those Optimax motor mount failures you should be hearing about are not caused on the water, they are caused on the trailer.

Believe it or not boats and motors take a way worse beating on the road than they do on the water.

I read BBC everyday and never once have i heard anyone talk about Optimax motor mounts failing. Is usually more along the lines of the blowing up for no reason lol.    All i know is ive broke a few of those stick style ones and when i did have them i could look back in the mirror and that engine would wiggle all over the place.  3 years with the Motor Mate and no issues

Whatever works for you is what you is what you should use. But I gotta ask a question. How in the hell do you break a stick style transom saver. There hasn't been anything ever made that I could break and I don't recall ever having an issue breaking one or the motor ever moving either. Of course I never went far. Just to Mexico 3 or 4 times and Lake Fork 3 or 4 times a year.

I guess I just don't understand why everyone is against the old ones. What does the new style offer that the old ones didn't?  I understand you had issues aarchdale, so I don't blame you. But I just don't understand how the others could be better for your boat. Beyond the stuff Wrench states have any of you ever taken a physics class??? I mean the newer designs can't even be considered transom savers since they don't do a thing to take the stress off the transom.
