I do hate seeing worm containers or empty jars of powerbait on the banks. I even see that in blue ribbon streams.

Me too and glad to know you pick up your bait containers. I witnessed that once in Arkansas so I put you in another category than some I have posted about on the forum,

Add to that balls of line thrown into the lake or stream, there's a persistent myth that fishing line is biodegradable.

Even worse it entangles birds, turtles and other critters killing with impunity.  The amount out there is horrifying. Way back when I used to fish below Truman Dam. One day I watched a couple guys with a stout pole about eight foot long. It had a big hook on one end. They would reach out as far as they could and work the hook around then spin the pole dragging back huge wads of line. They would cut off hooks, weights, jigs and lures. They would put the line and their treasures in separate buckets. A win. win situation. They were cleaning up and getting tackle for themselves. A couple times they had got so much entangled it took them both to drag it back.

Identifying anglers by their trash:

A. Spincasters, Spin-fishers, and baitcasters leave behind line balls, hook packets, empty bait-containers and beer bottles.

II. Flycasters leave behind flys up in the trees and whiskey bottles.

Non specific: both leave behind condoms.

I can hardly imagine how much fishing line is below the dams where I have fished. Lost that Doty special due to old line and that tailwater area here in Maryland is much much smaller than the below Truman dam .

Most be a lot of fisherman at the ramps on the Meramec near St Louis....Just sayin.:)

When I went to fish western MD for brook trout last March, I must have hit the prime hook-up spot. There had to have been 20 or so condoms. Now I will pick up fishing line, empty cans/bottles, but there is a limit.. just saying as well .

I've never bought an indicator, but I have 3-4 of every kind sold I think. I don't believe the spinners are the ones using and scattering  them at RR, there is a class of fly rod folks that tell me a bobber is almost a necessity to trout fish and at that third hole up from the old dam there are about a thousand spinning flies in one tree, my kids used to call it the Christmas tree hole.
