laker67 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 My favorite fish is a trout. Doesn't really matter what brand. Unlike SIO3"s mystical white bass, you know exactly where to go and timing does not seem to be a factor. Johnsfolly, Seth and snagged in outlet 3 3

Crappie in fall and spring, walleye, white and hybrids, bluegill on a fly rod for simple fun, goggle eye for the beautiful locations, smallies for fun and location. Heck I have even been know to target the lowly trout (been a LONG time though), even been on more than one trip targeting carp when younger they are a hoot for kids to hook into. The oe thing I have never caught and always wanted to is a spoonbill, went once but no joy. I just don't have the equipment or knowledge to target them. If you ever decide to try it again, let me know. I'm pretty good at getting on them on Tablerock and Lake of the Ozarks. Never been on Truman though so I have no clue about up there. Johnsfolly 1

Wonder if your offer would apply to others. I have caught one blue catfish and "bumped" a couple of spoonbills.

However, I will share as much information about where to snag as I can with anybody who wants to go try and catch some. I get more enjoyment out of putting others on these dinosaurs than myself. I'd rather go catch a crappie or white bass personally. Johnsfolly, BilletHead and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 1

You may have just been a sprout back then. It was the first year it was opened back up on Truman. Caught a bunch. I am close to the upper end of the Osage arm which includes the Sac River and the bates County drainage ditch (Marais Des Cygnes). The fish are here in mass and so are snaggers after them. You can get them all the way to Kansas depending on water coming down the arms. I know it is a bit of a drive for you but you should do some exploring out this way. BilletHead I've always wanted to try it just to see some new water, but it's hard to drive twice as far when I already catch plenty of them on LoZ. If I head to the James, I can always hit Taneycomo while I'm down there too since it's just around the corner. We still still make our annual opener trip to the James, but after we get our fill of that I always try to convince the rest of the crew to head over to Taneycomo for a day.
