Batteries

What is everyone using for lead acid batteries now? Seems Pro-Guide does not have anything  DC other than 27's, without going AGM which my old Mercury won't handle. Duracells are cheap but don't have the capacity of the Pro-Guides. I had no luck trying Walmart  battteries. Need at least three DC's for the 36V trolling motor. Currently running three Pro Guide 27's but least one is bad after eight years.

If you got eight years out of them I would stay with them. Never had any brand last that long.

this topic is covered endlessly over on bbc.  The consensus seems to be just get the Everstarts from Walmart, then if one goes bad you can usually exchange it pretty easily.  I have never had one go bad, but after 3 years I swap them out no matter what just to be safe.

I must have got the only  bad ones made. They didn't last fishing, seemed weak on actual capacity in use.  Trolling motor went dead faster than any I've used. Looks like group 29/31 lead batteries are on the way out, very few available.

I have been using Interstate Marine. I don't know there ranking compared to others. But like other people said. If I get 3 good years out of a boat battery. I'm happy.

Thanks but their website provide NO information about there products and their Contact Us email doesn't work, Guess they are off the list..

I just replaced a set of 29dc Everstarts in my boat after 5 years of hard use. They were still working well, but I figured I'd just be proactive and replace them since I fish almost every weekend and I'd more than got my moneys worth.
