I think they do a great job, Lake is plum full of fish!  Tablerock is a lake where you can go out and just flat catch the fire out of fish most times of the year.

I remember taking  bass off a bed long time ago and before I could get him off the hook aboard of bluegill were in the bed and about had it clean by the time I released her.

I am sure there is all kinds of economic pressure Is bought and brought onto MDC BUT it is never coming directly out of the congressman or senators back pocket. We recently voted on this In Mo. They had a constitution amendment about controbutions. All sounds good until you get far down into reading it. They made a definition of who could that who could give the the congressman money. I seems the definition was his immediate family and his wifes her immediate family. Looks awful lot like a big funnel to me. Somebody gives his uncle or brother $10k buying influence then the relative gives it to the congressman. That look like it would be pretty easy to cover up. Even if they tried to investigate it

The idea that 1000 boats on a lake the size of Table-rock can have any effect on the bass spawn is laughable. Weather and water levels effect spawn.

Very mucho exactly right on the button nose money Quill!

So, how do we open a dialogue with the MDC? I see mojo from AFGC around here on a regular. Anyone from MDC a member? In all seriousness, does anyone have any relationship with Bass Pro and Mr. Morris? He seems to have a vested interest in the Ozarks, maybe he could influence the MDC toward a bass stocking program. I know lots of folks gripe about BPS and MDC, but we have a solid start of a grassroots community here on the OAF. Anyone have any good ideas on how to use it?

good luck with that......it will be a long drawn out process and more than likely they won't do any stocking.

You all talk about the bass like its the only fish in the lake. So lets take a look at other fish like crappie and white bass. The limit on them are in the teens. People take 30 to 50 a day out of the lake. Then go back for more, and guess what, there are just as many of those fish year after year.  Table Rock has plenty of bass. I believe that they are getting smarter to the lure and line and harder to catch. Yes moving them off of the bed is not a good thing but I believe many more still spawn. There's a'lot of small fish in the lake so that tells me they are spawning, not all but plenty are. Fozzype probably had the best post so far on this board. He was not complaining and just giving some good info.  A two week lake closer sounds like the best idea yet. EVEN FROM PLEASER FISHERMAN...... That way most fish can spawn. Plus I don't think most tourney fisherman would complain either. At leased that way pleaser and tourney fisherman can meet in the middle. Even though it seems like on these posts that the biggest complainers come from pleaser fisherman. Yes tourney fisherman can be a pain, but its not going to change soon.  I believe that most tourney fisherman do care about the fishery. Yes there are some bad apples under the tree, but that goes both ways too.

The only time stocking is ever called for is when the fish are incapable of reproducing or if the fishery is over harvested.  I don't really think either is the case here. But, if the water is habitable and the fishery is decreased enough that anglers are noticing it, the only proper management is to reduce the pressure. Size/slot limits, no culling after possession  ever,  adjustments to season by closing, reduced number limits are options that should precede thoughts of stocking; when you have decided to stock any kid of fish, it is an admission that management practices have failed.

Just a thought, if the wildest fears of reduced fish numbers is in fact true, shouldn't the derby clubs and pro tourney anglers foot the bill and do the restocking they and only they want?  Up the entry by $5/head and earmark all that for purchase of fingerlings. The club holding a tourney could pass out those bags of babies to be released by each boat at the point they fish?  I remember a time when the fishermen called themselves conservationists.

That's what I was thinking about the C&W&R format suggested for tourneys, the sunnies would have the nest cleaned out be fore the catch was in the boat. I spent an afternoon long time ago pulling bullheads off the nests and  it is remarkable how fast the other fish are on the nest to chow down.

if you have ever read any of my posts on this subject, you will find that i speak of stocking not only bass, but crappie and other species.  as you say, there is just an enormous amount of fish leaving the lake everyday.

as far as numbers of any species of fish in the lake, if i had kept all the graph paper that i burned up back in the day, i could easily prove to you that there are not anywhere near the amount of fish in the lake as there was prior to the fish kill.  true, there are small areas of the lake that seem to have a decent population of fish, but, there are vast areas that do not.
