Hey all--working on another story and I need some input from the misfits.

As an outdoorsman, do you have a "spot" where you feel at home, relaxed and at peace? A deer stand, duck blind, etc? This does not have to be a good location for game/fish. It is the place where everything seems right in the world.

Let me know! Thanks in advance.

My favorite place is along slow moving water.  Shade preferred.

Mine too. Odd we've never run in to one another. 😉

I can't dance like I used to.

Many more than one.

Love being in my canoe on a small local lake, at dawn or dusk, anytime spring through fall; me and my dogs in a patch of CRP in the late fall; wading a small creek in the Rockies targeting native trout; curled up in the chair in my library and reading a good book about any of the above .

Ben Branch Conservatin lake. Fishing is not good but I've been going there for 25 years. Close to home. Sunk my truck in that lake. Girlfriends water broke at that lake. Had to swim after my boat or kayak multiple times. Once in early April. Had to think hard about that one. Went for it....dumb, barely had the strength to pull myself up in the boat. I've had more terrible experiences there than I can count. BUT I keep going back because I'm bound and determined to catch a 8lb bass out of there. My biggest is 6.43.

I used to ride my bike there and bank fish as a teenager. Its 9 miles one way. You sure don't see kids do that anymore.

Great input so far. More specific would be great, though. Here's mine.

On Lake Taneycomo, on a late summer evening, with the water running I love boating up to the dam and drifting. Usually, there is nobody else up there and I fish until it is dark. It's always peaceful. I have seen a midge hatch up there once that covered the sky. I stopped fishing just to observe.

In the woods, there is a spot I love to turkey hunt on public ground in Kansas. It is a 3/4 mile walk to get to, but once I am there I can sit there in peace for hours. Lots of turkeys, but the location in and of itself is incredible. I truly feel I am home when I get there. I have two trees I like to sit against, and each time I go back it feels like I am seeing an old friend.
