I’m probably insane in the brain! I should go get checked along with MOCarp. They might let me out of the looney bin after my check up, not so sure with him.

I gotta admit that is kinda out there, I think the point he is trying to make is that it might take a long time between exposure to CWD you developing the dementia or CJD or kuru, long enough that no one is apt to point out that deer you ate in camp 10-12 years ago, or the mutton stew you had at Aunt Aggie's,  as being the cause of your illness, if they even make a diagnoses of CJD.

There is really no way of knowing if your late friend or relative with dementia had prions or not. Not a standard thing to cut off the neck of people and send it for testing. The disease may be more common than we think- or not. Bunch of oldies like you all shouldn't get excited or worry about it any how, with ten year or twenty year incubation we might all pass on of other causes before the CJD sets in. Pass that neck roast. Nearer the bone, sweeter the meat.

Nope, CJD prion is different from the one causing CWD, there is reading out there on prions if you are that interested.  or you can listen to someone like MoCarp who has no idea what he is talking about.

This is what happens when humans think we can cure and fix everything--nature has its forest fires and maybe it's one of them? We need a plague anyway. If you don't think there is something lying in wait to knock out half our population (or more) in the next hundreds of years, you are naive.

Also, as I've said before, LD is not credible and is a certifiable nut. He didn't get a job with the MDC years ago and went on a vendetta. It's sad.

Well you get an F for lab...I have been trying to dumb this down for those never educated in the biological sciences past 9th grade...and I have failed so I’ll try this

step one the structure of a sick protein in deer (CWD) the most common occurring has a “hard loop” that makes it unlikely, but not zero chance of “infecting” a human

(see below) remember because on the test you will draw the two sick vs normal

step two

There are types of the proteins that have a different structure than the most commonly encountered CWD that has shown itself to be more likely to “infect”  primates

I get the point of showing it CAN be contracted, but this is extreme. They injected it into their brains and they developed it? I'll be darn. Countless other published studies had the other outcome when simply feeding them meat from CWD positive deer. Will it be able to cross over easily in the coming years? Yea, I think so. That's how evolution works. But the hysteria is ridiculous.

Larry D has his issues however to think pressure to keep a Billion $$$ a year in Missouri alone industry chugging along is naïve or  complicit... perhaps because I’m older and remember to what lengths the tobacco industry went to throw fear-uncertainty-and doubt into the mix...same stuff going on with vaping till the gov hammer comes down...by them a few million more nicotine addictions in our youth

.yes it is over blown media is like that... just like aids/ hiv was in the early 80s then alt lifestyle people started donating blood to infect regular lifestyle people with HIV...

issue here is human dementia tested for what caused it or what type? Almost never...should you stop eating venison? Untested? Many people have...and that costs some $...big thing now is to see who is behind funding the studies...or public spin, just ask yourself why? I am sure you can see the parallels.
