fishinwrench Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Sweety pie and I made a run to the hardware store and to grab a sandwich today. In the 8 miles from my place to Laurie we counted 8 fresh kills on the shoulder/ditch and on the way back there were 2 others standing beside the road waiting their turn to get smeared. And tomorrow there will likely be 6-10 more.....just wasted. So I really can't get a handle on the criminalization of guys who wanna kill a few deer. Do they really think that if any of us could just harvest a deer anytime we wanted to, that the population would go extinct? Because I don't. As a matter of fact I think it might just be beneficial to all of mankind. Instead of food stamps just give them a cheap Mossberg and a box of slugs. snagged in outlet 3 1
Gavin Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 The Antler Hunters would get pissed, but OK with year round no limit deer season. $1 each, report it, and you can buy the $1 tags after you shoot them. Kill em all! Sick of deer dodging on my way home this time of year.
jdmidwest Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 But felons can't have guns. You have to give them crossbows so the neighbors don't hear them shoot. And take away the Obama phone so they keep it off FB Mitch f, Gavin and snagged in outlet 3 3 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. tjm Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Silly not letting felons have guns, that's like taking away a Dr.'s stethoscope or a mechanics wench, how is he supposed to make a living? and then we complain that the gun deprived felons get on welfare. Take away anyone's tools, what can we expect? Anyhow fwiw, in Mo. it's legal to kill fur-bearers (cats) during deer season with a Small Game Permit; so no need to lie. Although the cat being big enough to target man or deer is way out there, it is rare for a bob cat to exceed ~40#, a big cat is ~30#; they like to eat birds, bunnies, rodents and chickens, might take fawns or sheep if the opportunity was there. Most cats act just like Tabby does, not particularly afraid and not especially aggressive. It is against the law in Mo. to keep pet deer or any pet wildlife.
OzarkFishman Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Wrench ... I gotta call you out on this one ... Unregulated hunting led to the deer population in the entire state of Missouri to dwindle to 400 in 1925. 400 deer in the entire state of Missouri. It is because of REGULATED hunting that our numbers are so good. Now, in your area around Laurie ... I don't know how much hunting pressure there is. I know that a lot of deer probably go unhunted around LOZ. I have a place that we go to on the 34 mile marker (Laurie side of the lake). I see a ton of deer every time and doubt many people hunt those lake deer, but I could be wrong. I know Truman gets a lot of pressure. Unregulated hunting would have horrible consequences. It is because of REGULATED hunting that our numbers are so good. Explain to me how, in 1925, it was possible to count all the deer? And since nobody had to "check them in" back then, how could anyone possibly know that PEOPLE killed them all? That sounds like some BS quoted out of the bible, or some biologists notes. So what's the deer census allegedly up to now? Lemme guess:. "In 1925 Bernard Skittle's coon hound had 400 deer ticks on him, so there must have only been 400 deer".

That's before the Cattleman's Association, refrigerated freight and other options to eat besides a road goat. Personally you can shoot them and do whatever you want with em. My backyard is overrun with em the same as every other subdivision around here. And the country just came out of a crippling recession so people were hungry.
OzarkFishman Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 It was actually due to market hunting guys, I am not going to get into a pissing match. Data is data. You can disagree, but this is fact. I guess we don't know how many deer are in the state because we can't count all of them and we don't know anything for that matter because you don't believe it. I don't have the energy to fight this. It's like watching news, everyone is either right/wrong ... there are no facts left ... sad state of society ... jfrith, snagged in outlet 3, Johnsfolly and 4 others 6 1
