Update:

I have been trying to some new darters here in Maryland, but still have not been successful.

I did however catch a new minnow and received confirmation on this juvenile spotfin shiner.

Still have time on those darters though they are starting to pi$$ me off a bit.

We did end up going to GA for a family issue. During that time I did find a few times that I could get out and fish.

I was able to complete my sunfish goal of catching three new species while down there with this dollar sunfish :D!

The bonus was that I'm certain that both Livie and I were catching coppernose subspecies of bluegill as well.

Regardless these big boys and girls were a lot of fun to catch! @Quillback would agree with that statement ;).

Anyone have any ideas about this camo fatigued sunfish let me know. I thought it looked pretty cool!

While trying to catch (but unsuccessful) spotted sunfish in the Ogeechee river both Livie and I caught coastal shiners which were new species for both of us. This fish gets me ten lifers with a goal of 12 for the year.

I hope that those that set goals for 2020 are making them happen!

             Well done John!

I still think your dollar sunfish looks more like a quarter or fifty center type :)

I was in the area for others reasons that incurred the expenses. Just was making lemonade so to speak. That's  my story and I'm  sticking with it 😉

At the 3/4 pole, I am sitting at 2303 for fish caught. It won’t be easy, but I think I still have a chance to get to 3000.

I had hoped to be past 75 species by now, but my epic failure at Mayo Ditch held be back. I am at 74 species with 21 lifers so far. I did get a Bowfun which was awesome. A moment of complete joy for me. Likewise getting that pike.

Zero Benjamin’s so far. Obliviously not going to get that one done, but sitting at 17 50 Burgers so far. I feel pretty comfortable that’s gonna happen.

I’ve fished AR, MO, TX, LA, AL, FL, KS, NE so far. I have another trip planned. I will fish in NC again and maybe can sweet talk another quick stop along the way to get to 10 states. COVID 19 made me postpone several trips.

man, it’s been a crazy year

Impressive stats for sure!  Can't wait to see how the year finishes out for everyone!

I kept an electronic Fishing Log for 10 consecutive years, finishing at the end of the 2015 season.  There was a bit of spinning gear action in the early years, but I soon transitioned to pretty much 100% flyfishing by the middle of it.

I averaged 2334 fish/year, with my best year being 3112 fish.  I was able to determine I caught, on average, a fish every 7.5 minutes, and fished an average of 141 days/year.  A fair number of those were short trips during my lunch hours from work.  THOSE were the days!  I only caught 41 fish species during that entire 10-year span!

So...I can totally relate and appreciate what you guys are doing, and I think its fantastic!  :)

Oh, and after that 10-year stretch of keeping the Fishing Log, I felt I had proven to myself that flyfishing could produce good numbers of fish.  So then I wanted to prove to myself that it could also produce large fish.  In each of the 3 years of 2017-2019 that I kept track, I was able to land at least 50 fish that measured 18" or larger. I thought that was pretty solid.
