Quillback Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Monday AM I was getting the boat ready to launch at Big M. There was a rig parked in one of the spots at the top of the lot and as I was getting my boat ready I heard a kind of thumping noise coming from that trucks bed. I looked over and I could see a crow perched on the bed and the thump was still going on. Had to walk over and check it out, got close and the lookout crow took off, and his buddy in the bed flew out. Looked in the bed of the truck and there was a bag of deep corn, which was obviously what the bird was working on. Got the boat in the water, the crows went back at it, but the guys who had launched were across the lake so I motored over and told them about it. Saw them back at the dock at the end of the day and they said they when they went back, the crow had worked a small hole in the bag, so they put it in the truck cab and got back to fishing. There's always a couple of crows around that ramp looking for something to get into. When I park my truck, there's usually one sitting on the boat gunwale looking for something to pilfer. Fished Monday and Tuesday, fishing for me was not too hot, caught a couple dozen bass on the Ned rig, with only three keepers. Weather was pretty nice, so I am not complaining, I enjoy getting out. Talked to a couple of people that were fishing jigs, they aren't tearing it up, but they are getting a few with some being decent sized. merc1997 Bo, Dock-in-it, bfishn and 4 others 7

I was watching some outdoor cooking show a few years ago, can't remember its name, but it was something along the lines of "Eating nasty critters". They went out and shot some crows and then cooked them, I can't remember how they cooked them, but they claimed they were edible. I don't plan on trying them myself.
Bill Babler Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I'm with ya on that one Jeff. Quillback 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Might be "Dead Meat" with Scott Leysath. That show highlighted lots of unusual critters being shot and eaten. I once had a conversation with Scott about a injectable mixture idea that I had to be used in a fawn leg roast. The meal turned out great! Quillback 1
Bill Babler Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 There is a show called the MeatEater, He ate a coyote. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Macsimus Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 My crazy brother-in-law once cooked up some porcupine. All I remember is that it smelled terrible and that even his dog wouldn't touch it. 🤣 magicwormman, Zulu and terryj1024 1 2 "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."

Us kids didn't know what he had cooking in the crock pot and were picking off of it most of the afternoon before he told us what it was! I’ve actually had sausage made from them that was quite edible. Mike Johnsfolly 1
