Mitch f Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 FWIW, I used this line last year for Topwater on my Minnesota trip and it worked as advertised. It’s a low stretch mono, so it doesn’t sink like Fluorocarbon. So when a long cast is needed it still has that low stretch which helps hook setting and still gives that snappy cadence that is sometimes preferable. Dutch Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 I learned the deep bite and braid when a crappie friend took me winter fishing several years ago. The fish were 30+ feet deep. All I had was mono. We caught 46. He caught 40 of them. I just could not feel the bite.
Smithvillesteve Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Thanks boys for your opinions. I really do value the thoughts and opinions of the "regulars" on TR. Bill, Dock In It, RPS, Champ, Bo, Quill and others. I love fishing that lake. It sure can humble a guy but thats bass fishing. I'm still learning especially the deep bite. Need to learn my graph better. It really does come down to what a guy prefers and what he has confidence in. Read the BassBlaster today. Chris Zaldain had a video on fishing the Vision 110. He uses Seaguar InvisX 12 lb. Quillback and snagged in outlet 3 2
Guest Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 i can tell that if i were skipping boat docks, i would have to try to get along with floro. braid just comes up off the spool so easy, it is hard to skip with unless using a spinning reel. hey, i am getting old and decrepit and need all the help i can get. been looking into those reels i have seen that shoot your lure😂. and on top of that, my wife says she will kill me if i ever put any floro or mono on any of her reels. and, there you have the rest of the story. bo Daryk Campbell Sr, vernon and Quillback 2 1
vernon Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I've tried numerous brands of braid off and on ever since the introduction of SpiderWire a hundred years ago and have always HATED it for all the reasons that have been detailed in this post. However, when winter rolls around and I get bored and antsy I read and research a lot of stuff which causes my mind to wander and I lose most of my already limited sense of logic and reasoning and I start thinking that "maybe this time will be different" and then I buy stupid golf and fishing stuff. Consequently, a few months ago after reading a different post by Bo about the Spectra Extreme Braid that he bought from Ali-express I thought to myself, "self, that makes way too much sense not to work and what's fifteen bucks?" and so I ordered some. Now it took over a month to arrive - in fact, I'd forgotten I'd even ordered it - as apparently slow boats from China are more than just an expression but by golly I've got it and I'm gonna give it a whirl. Then a little later RPS made mention of the stuff that he had stumbled across and really, really liked called Finatic and so (no way you guessed this) I ordered a spool of that too. So now the guy that hates braid more than most people has twenty thousand miles of the stuff laying on the seat of his boat! Regardless, in another month or so I'm going to convert my spinning reels over to these two lines and try some of the Finatic on a bait caster just for the heck of it. Hopefully it doesn't all end up in a trashcan on a boat dock somewhere midway through the first day back on the water but we'll see. This time is going to be different! I just know it. Tomorrow I'm gonna do a little more research on those left nostril inhalers I've been hearing so much about...... Champ188 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." Dutch Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Vernon what you really need is some white Power Pro 8/1 then you would have the bases covered.
