patfish Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 My place of employment has been deemed essential as well. We sell janitorial products(disinfectants, toilet paper and ton of PPE.. We have a store front but it is now all will call. No one that is not an employee allowed in the building not even delivery drivers. I scored a couple of gallons of alcohol gel hand sanitizer, a box of N95 masks, and access to all the nitrile gloves I can use. Can't buy a loaf of bread though. The hysteria of America has become tiresome.
wily Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Not trying to pick a fight but sounds like the status quo not much of an option for the employees...pto won’t last long and they know it bad precedent set by allowing the one employee to work from home....there will be others in similar situations sorry if offended...just being objective

I didn't allow one employee to work from home. I made him work from home to protect the others. Others with similar situations in other parts of the country are doing the same. And it's really hard for you to be objective when you don't have a clue what we are doing. As I have told many others. Take care of your friends and families and don't be a douchebag. 99% of our people want to work and we are allowing them to do that.
Flysmallie Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 You have to keep in mind that in our business if we quit then we don't make money. And if we don't then it's going to be hard on our employees. Plus we have customers that are relying on us so if we don't deliver to them then they don't make money and their employees don't make money and so on. And ALL of these people want to work and NONE of them are in contact with people on a regular basis outside of the group they work with which isn't even that close. Again I have to explain myself to the ignorant and that is getting old. You kids have fun solving the worlds problems on a fishing forum. Peace. Terrierman 1
ness Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 This isn't any one country or industry. This is tearing through the entire world economy. Everything is interdependent. Stocks down 25-30% Oil down 50%. Worlds largest oil producer may notice that... Uncle Sam just told certain mortgage borrowers they don't need to make their payments. I wonder if banks will miss the cash? I could go on and on... No end in sight. N9BOW 1 John
jdmidwest Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 My services are deemed essential and our factories are still producing. Most office staff working offsite. But, I have been out in the public all week, shaking hands and kissing babies as usual. I am in sales and project management. Upside, most idiots are off of the road, driving is easier. I have better access to hoard supplies from other out of the way locations on company time. But, I will probably end up working from home soon. Residential side fell flat this week. Commercial projects rolling on. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Mitch f Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Because I’m a contractor basically, a few companies are restricting our access to their plant. But they know if they don’t get the parts out the door, everyone will suffer. They are bringing parts to our facility to be measured/reverse engineered. Terrierman Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I've given up on equities for now. Did it in 2008 too. We'll suffer for a while but be ok in the long run. Long run to me =/= 2021
wily Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I’m in an essential industry but pretty far removed from the day to day...I’ve been home since Tuesday afternoon. I really feel like our company went above and beyond in an aggressive manner to proactively find a solution to keep us back office types working and more importantly for the company - hopefully protect the essential operations people by reducing the number of people those individuals interact with daily i should have kept my nose out of the previous conversation...I apologize for aggravating the situation. I’m not good at investing either...always seem to sell the winners and keep the losers. no telling what will happen but this is the best article I’ve read recently https://www.forbes.com/sites/investor/2020/03/19/a-historic-4-week-crash-the-most-serious-time-in-90-years/#27009e3532af good luck to all and God Bless snagged in outlet 3, Mitch f and BilletHead 2 1
