         We are actually dry here now. If we get a couple good rains the forest will be in bloom with fungus!

Found 4 such caches on the ne road I put in the timber. I’m sure there’s many more. Have not looked

At the base of the smaller one.  Had to look hard.

                 Oh my yes! Two days after our fist soaker I will go. In the mean time I will scan for them from the road!

What should I be looking for.  We just got a soaker.  What’s most common now?

          Chanterelles should be starting. Hot weather they like also. Egg yellow to farm egg orange yellow.  They also smell fruity. Like apricot I think.   Google it up  Pete some neat stuff.

    There is at least one picture of mine on here. Cinnabar chanterelle :) 

 I find most of mine in sandy loamy soil.

I hope that they hold off for a week or so. Then we can get some fresh ones when we are in MO.

My mushroom hunting buddy was telling me about how he got sick on chantrelles one time.  I said that's wierd I never heard of them making anybody sick.  He said well they will if you eat a pound of them sauteed in butter..... You've got enough there for several tummy aches!
