That's all, pretty simple. Then it should warrant their own trout raising program. How does that make "pretty simple" sense? Rural area tax revenue hasn't GONE DOWN, it has INCREASED......So if that's the mentality then rural area folks should have a bit more, or at least the same amount of trout management that they've had in the past. They shouldn't be taking from the rural allotment to give to urban areas. Just raise more specifically for the urban area management, and at least keep the management efforts the same for rural area folks, and the Red/White ribbon streams. The Bennett Spring hatchery runs at 1/3 its capacity. If they need more trout for the urbanites then fire up all those other raceways and buy some more food. They are getting PAID to do exactly that.

Complain, complain, complain, about the MDC. We pay $10 for the trout stamps here in Maryland and the stocked trout are 6 to 8 inches in length. State doesn't have the money like MO does to hold them until they are 10-12 inches in length, let alone release that many 2 to 3 lb trout. There are no tailwaters like Taneycomo. Lots of creeks with very few and small brown trout, nothing like you can catch from the Current river or pre-flood North Fork. Here in the northeast a 20" trout is equivalent to a 5 to 7 lb bass. Anyway instead of realizing how good you have it compared to other states, just complain away! top_dollar and tjm 2

I'm not bothered by the 3.00 at all, just wondered how they justified the increase while doing less management. Are you one of those that think government programs should never get wondered about or questioned? You wouldn't bat an eye at paying 20.00/gal. for gas? Don't you dare! You just be thankful that you have gas available! Smalliebigs 1

You just be thankful that you have gas available! I didn't see the autocorrect version. Kind of funny actually. No I am not a guy that likes being taxed for no reason. We pay more in gas here than Missouri due primarily to the taxes levied on each gallon of gas. In Ireland and UK there were folks that feel that there should be more taxes on gas to dissuade people from buying gas. 20 yrs ago it was close to $4/gal there. So Gov't organizations should be held accountable. But where is the MDC doing less management? Just because you disagree about where the fish are placed, that's too bad for you. I don't see that as less management. The costs (feed, staff salaries, raceway repairs, etc.) to raise bigger fish increase annually yet the trout stamp or the day tags have not increased in decades. We do pay more in gas here and it's because of the taxes tacked onto the gas. The MD DNR does not have a sales tax going to conservation. They rely solely on license fess and Pittman Robertson money. The MDC tax separates that departments ability to buy and manage more public lands. The trout park fees and the trout tags allow for larger fish to be released regardless if that is a white or red ribbon stream or urban pond.

If it's acceptable for it to be "too bad for me", then why is is not ok for it to be TOO BAD FOR THEM? (the urban anglers) Are they even actively checking the urban trout anglers to see if they possess a trout stamp? (The correct answer is NO). I don't think you realize that in the history of Missouri trout management there was much better quality management done way back before they had 1/10 of the funds to do it with. Am I really out of line to expect some degree of progression? Seems the more we pay, the less we get. Less management, less policing, less enjoyment. And more rediculous spending that benefits WHO? snagged in outlet 3 and Smalliebigs 2
