My friend Sean Guffy has been keeping me up on developments up in Alaska. The villages there have tried to keep outsiders from traveling to remote areas, trying to keep the virus at bay. In doing so, it would have canceled all commercial and sport fishing basically for the season which would have been unimaginable. All hunting too. Yesterday, the Governor declared Fishing essential.

Now they have to figure out how to fly out of Anchorage to these places. The main airline, Ravn Air, went bankrupt already. Plus they have to figure out the quarantine thing. Theres talk of charter flight out of Seattle to King Salmon.

They’re all in quite a predicament. If you ever want to go to Alaska for an extended 2 week trip that may not cost an arm and leg, this might be the year.

Tourism keeps Alaska alive....  its their #1 industry. To cancel it for a whole year-absolutely insane. But they almost did it.

Thousands of cannery workers are shipped out to King Salmon and Dillingham. They’ll have to figure that out too.

interesting.  Something the average person probably would never think about.  The same will probably apply to next falls big game hunts out west. gulf coast charters, etc.  The ramifications of this thing will keep developing as time goes on.

I think anything that falls into the categories 'recreation' or 'entertainment' is toast for the foreseeable future. It's going to be really tough on millions of people.

Can you keep us updated as things progress?  It's always been on my list, just not the top of it.

I never want to leave my 5 county area, until I'm told that I can't.  Now I'm suddenly compelled to travel the world.

I honestly never understood that 5 rule.  Pick your destinations and enjoy it.  You don't have to go all the time but once in a while would be nice.  I still don't know how you passed on Hawaii.   It's killer!

I think it's easy to understand.  There's nothing I need or want that can't be had to my satisfaction within this 5 county radius.  There are even fishing spots, stretches of rivers/creeks, and bike trails that I've never been to before.

I did alot of traveling in the past... and always came back here.  There's a reason for that, this is home.

We had planned to take a RV out West this year because I've never experienced the Yellowstone area, but honestly I won't be heartbroken if that gets called off.   Plenty of fun to be had right here near home.

I get it.  I love being at home even though it's the "burbs"  It's where I grew up.  Have you ever seen the pictures of " what it really looks like?" instead of the brochure picture?  Kind of disappointing.

Traveling anywhere in tight quarters with someone on a plane or cruise ship opens up many possibilities of contaign.  Crabs jump ship, lice crawl, alot of people are just nasty and filthy..  It moves over when you are elbow to elbow.  Worse when they pass out on your shoulder on a long plane ride.
