I get it.  I love being at home even though it's the "burbs"  It's where I grew up.  Have you ever seen the pictures of " what it really looks like?" instead of the brochure picture?  Kind of disappointing.

Are you talking about the western trout streams?

I was disappointed in Ontario, and Minnesota, and Michigan UP.  Not disappointed in the scenery or the fishing... because it's awesome, but there are OTHER things like deer flys, relentless wind, whole towns full of shitty people....things like that take away the allure of many places.

Click-click-click, there's no place like home. 😌

Like the the beautiful scenery out west with nobody there.... Then you show up and it's shoulder to shoulder.  Or an empty beach with a couple strolling hand in hand and you get there and you can't even find a spot to hang out.

The governor of AK declared sport and commercial fishing essential yesterday.  But I'm sure the fight is not over.

Then there's flight ramifications... and housing and work conditions (commercial).

It's a mess.  Too many people asking for bailouts too.  Feds seemingly can print money but the states can't.  Plus AK's income is sport/commercial licenses and tourism taxes.  Pipeline is closed so not making any money on natural resources.

Not sure how many ways you can say ZERO.

For those who are willing to take the chance, there might be some real deals on the AK experience this year.

Offer up, there may be takers.  I have not seen that part of the state yet.

I won't live long enough to fish all the streams and lakes in my five or six county area.   Just wish there was more easy access places. Mass transit and half clean hotel rooms have very little allure to me.

My buddy Jim Johnson, who owns Naknek River Camp and Katmia Trophy Lodge on the Naknek River, SW Alaska, says the Gov'er of AK is not coming off the 14-day quarantine.  It's the death of every lodge, camp and outfitter in Alaska.

That's interesting - I wonder what they'll do about all the seasonal workers that come up there to process salmon in the summer?  Workers come from all over and work in places that are a lot like meat processing facilities.  I don't see how you can quarantine people coming in to fish, but not quarantine people coming in to work.  If anything, it should be the other way around.

I have always wanted to fish Alaska, or up in Canada. If anyone else would like to do that, and wanted to team up with someone and make that trip when we get to where we can. I would open to working on a trip. My prison therapist said the medication seems to be working and I am relatively safe now.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)
