Hey guys-

What gear do you keep in your boat that is overlooked most of the time, but really dang handy when you need it?

Most of us have good rainwear at this point, but something that I like is a cheap full face motorcycle helmet. I caught fish all morning yesterday under overcast and spitting rain. Quit when the downpour started, and had about a 15 minute boat ride back to the ramp. Sitting there warm and comfy in my rain gear and wearing that helmet, it was a nice cruise back at 55mph, and I was even able to see!! $35 a few years ago on Amazon, and I wouldn't take $500 for it on a rainy day.

whats something you keep around that maybe the rest of us haven't thought of?

You'd be amazed at what all can be done with a bundle of tie-straps.   I carry a handful of 3 sizes everywhere I go.

Everything from making a stringer, an A-rig keeper, bait keeper on a jig or spinnerbait, to turning a 7/16 wrench into a 10mm.  Fix shoes.  You can even light them on fire to help start damp wood burning, or weld a pair of broken sunglasses.

Zip ties, toilet paper/baby wipes, short section of wire to break up the mud dobber nest in the outlet hose on the water pump, Extra pair of cheap sunglasses,  Instead of a helmet I use a pair of motorcross goggles, small tool kit.

Decent size paddle. Make that 2, sucks to paddle alone. Forget the flimsy little foldup jobs. First Tracker I bought had a little 3foot paddle in it. Can't even whack a snake in the head with that, much less paddle a 17' bass boat.

Gorilla water proof tape if you run a jet.  I gave to a guy some that pulled his transom loose and had about a foot long crack.  Popped that stuff on he said he could have kept fishing it worked so well.  Big posterior screw driver to get rocks out of the impeller or break it loose.  Plus one on the baby wipes!   Don't ask...😁
