That's what I tell the waitress in a restaurant if she asks me how my meal was and it was just OK but could have been way better.  I say, " OH, It was just  fine,"    And, it is, and these for most people are toys.  it is like buying Bushnell Bino's verse Steiner or Swarovski, you can see a long way with the Bushnell but you can see a long way better with the others.

It's about is fine, good or ok good enough, if so there you go.

Bill you are right in using the binocular example. We have heard for years and years that you should buy the best quality optics that you can afford. If that is Bushnell, at that time them go ahead and buy them or wait until you can get the money together to buy the Swarovski's.

I think it's the application that you use it for. For me a 9 inch is just fine. Just a so so angler who just loves to catch fish as a passionate hobby . And fine is good enough. If I was a guide and that's how I made my living at it. It would be an an investment in my business. I would have a big screen on the bow! BTW, I never turned down a lady for being fine!😁

I like to say the only money wasted is money never spent and I've always believed that.

Problem is now that I'm "on the fixed income" I don't have near as much to blow!

If I was still working I guarantee I'd have that Garmin setup front and back and am still kicking myself for not having it installed on my boat when I bought it four years ago.

I was shopping for my current boat and the Panoptix had just come out.  I was at the dealership where I'd bought my previous boat at LOZ and the guy that owned the place was showing it to me and said, "I'd obviously really like to sell you another boat but I'm telling you if you end up buying elsewhere you've absolutely GOT to insist that this is the electronics setup it has.  This is the most amazing thing to come out in forever and you'll kick yourself if you settle for anything else."

Well, I didn't listen and he was right.

In fact my leg is getting tired.🤦‍♂️

I expect all of you guides that make a living fishing to have the best and biggest.  But do you (we) need it to catch fish?  Probably not.  :)

I had my Nikons out last night looking at birds about 50' away.  And mused about what I might see with a pair of Swarovski's that I was missing with the Nikons.  Heck I don't know enough about birds to tell the difference anyway.  I know they're better.  But probably wasted on a guy like me.

I've said many times and will again I'm sure that the only thing money is good for is what you buy with it.

Can't take it with you when you go.  Better spend it all.

I spent a lot of money in shooting sports and on glass for shooting over a mile.   I will just say this. Just because it is real expensive doesn't mean it is better.

With glass you get to a certain price point and you get no more value for your money.  That is another topic.

With any luck I will go out with about the same money I came in with.  Told the kids good luck, make smart choices because I not leaving you much.  I made it and I am spending it. :)

Tell me that's the Nikon price point and I will never tell that joke again.
