Well that blows.....

My G2 is my first (and obviously last) Evinrude and it's by far the best engine I've ever owned.

I've had a Johnson, two Yamaha's and eight Merc's and most of the Merc's were a pain in the butt.

I doubt I'll live long enough to buy another boat and/or motor but I guess this is a good one to go out with.

Man that sucks...

I have a Merc but grandpa had a 1978 Ozark tri-hull with an 85 HP Evinrude.  The sound of that engine is the soundtrack to my childhood. That thing ran like a top with no issues at all until the transom rotted out of that boat in 2014.  RIP Evinrude.

Oh my gosh,  that was our first boat we bought in 1974 but with a 4 cyl. 85 HP Merc on it and got it at old Glaser Marine on Natural Bridge Rd.   Had not heard that name in decades.   Took me about three years to "graduate" to a Hydrasports Pad boat with an in-line Merc 150.....and many more since then.

When I was in college there was a boat dealer right on the strip in Branson where the 1st. walmart used to be.  They had Stinger Packages lined up in every color with 70 hp Evinrudes that were paint matched to the boat.  They had orange and black ones that looked so friggin mean.  Would have sold the 1st. born back then to have had one.

first, at least glad, bpr will continue to provide parts.  but, the bad part is the big hit in the pocket book that every e-tec owner just took because your trade-in or resale value of your rig went to about what the boat and trailer value are.  pretty sad.

Yet another reason this will almost certainly be my last boat........

Too bad too cause I like to look and dream!

A new G2 was on my bucket list for a repower this winter. 15 year old Nitro is ready. It will be interesting to see what existing inventory of G2s are available at what cost. Maybe it would be stupid to buy a discontinued motor at any cost, but I sure like the reviews on the G2s. While BPR says parts will continue to be made, does that make sense?  Didn't need to be more confused. Could someone buy just the Evinrude company? I thought the G2 was a big hit.

Johnny?

He owns everything else.

Although he didn't do Evinrude any favors when he went all in on Mercury a couple years ago.

Heck, my G2 wasn't two years old yet and I couldn't even get it serviced where I bought it (Cabela's) thanks to him pulling the ol' switcheroo and cutting all ties to BPR.

Good ol' Johnny is always in the neighborhood anytime something like this goes down.
