Mitch f Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 I’ve always been a take it or leave it flu shot guy. I’ve had them before but I never thought it was that necessary. So last year around November I think I was doing a routine doctors visit and the nurse asked me if I had the flu shot yet and if I wanted one. She said the doctor is really going to try to talk you into it. The doctor comes in and explains that after 5-10 years of flu shots, your body builds up more a super immunity. Anyway, he talked me into it and I got one. Now keep in mind, this is long before Anyone heard of Covid. The funny thing is my lungs have never felt right after I took that shot. It’s very strange and makes me wonder if there was some kind of Covid or similar type immunity built into the shot. Not any conspiracy theories, I’m just bewildered why my lungs have seemed weird since I got the shot. BTW I got checked a couple of weeks ago and it was negative. snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 I get the flu shot every year free from our company. Got Type A this year and as bad as I felt I think it's the first time I've every had the flu. The rest were just colds. On a side note the hospitalizations for Covid have dropped off dramatically even though we have a spike in new cases. STL Hospitals were at 700 hospitalized at the start and now down to 200 or so less. Hopefully it's weakening if that's possible. Just passing along what I saw on the news yesterday AM. Mitch f 1
Quillback Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 Haven't had the flu in 10 years or so. Back when I was working I used to fly all the time, all over the US and Canada and I think I got a cold or flu at least once a year. Never got flu shots then either. Now being retired I don't come in contact with near as many people as I did when I worked and I get a flu shot very year. Seems to work. Watching CNBC today, Gilead has now priced Remdesivir - $3,000 for treatment (via IV). It is administered to people who are hospitalized for COVID. Supposedly cuts recovery time by 4 days, so you'd save on 4 days of hospitalization if it works as advertised. Gilead is under some heat because they charge $3K here in the US, but around $2K to other nations.

If they had a reliable test for antibodies and test every one the number of recovered cases would skyrocket. Numbers are really meaningless if you only test the extremely sick people like they have been. Jerry Rapp 1
marcusearlt Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 We desperately needs the bars/nightlife venues to reopen as well as televised sporting events to resume ASAP. That should cut back on the crowds hopefully. Maybe even an annual kayak registration fee? "If people don't occasionally walk away from you shaking their heads, you're doing something wrong." I did read the current viral load is significantly lower than the peak in April. Its not making anyone really sick. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Gavin Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 People in my area are being careful. Think waning in STL, out state where nobody gave a care, will be rising. Docs & nurses must have better knowledge of it now so outcomes are getting allot better. Few deaths as compared to a month ago.
fishinwrench Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Nothing has changed around here. People coming and going from all over mid-america. Nobody wearing masks, and everyone eating out, partying, dancing, hugging, kissing, and shaking hands..... Still nobody I know of has gotten sick (other than hangovers). We were supposed to be a major hotbed for COVID19 here at LOTO..... Hasn't happened. The whole thing seems more and more rediculous to me each day. snagged in outlet 3 and tjm 2
