Sweet...biggest one I ever saw was under the 34 Bridge near Sam Baker State Park. I here that the snake road in S. IL has a bunch of them. They close it for migration twice a year.

One of my railroad buddies was on a work train years ago in So. Ill.  He was an engineer so his feet rarely touched the ballast, but he got off to talk with this old farmer that had a place North of the snake road. He asked the old timer why he had on knee boots when it was pretty hot . The old timer told him"if you saw the snakes we have around here, you would either get back on the engine or get you some knee boots too! Said he lost livestock every year to snake bites. Only saw a couple while I was working that subdivision and both were dead.

Docile or not I would be pretty cranky of you shoved a tracker up my rear. :) . Did you gas them some before the procedure?

Yep we gassed em, but it was a fine line between enough and not enough haha! When they started twitching, we hastened up quickly.

I too like snakes, bit in.all my years of walking though the hills of mod I have never seen a live rattlesnake in person.  I have been some of the same places but have seen a rattler.  I see few copperhead out in the woods, mostly see them on the roads in the fall or around buildings etc.  The ones I have seen out in the woods took me by surprise, their camo job is superb, so I have likely been pretry close to them, just didn't know it.

The Katy Trail generally runs parallel to Missouri River from down the street from my house to KC.  I average 11 miles per hour and my best year is 2500 miles.  I cover a lot of ground in remote areas.  First one I’ve ever seen.
