We all know there are ticks in the weeds, and we know that if we get bit by the wrong tick that it's going to be a bummer. But nobody wants to bathe in DEET everyday and stay on the sidewalk. Besides, tick checks are fun. 😁 You take chances on your own safety, and on the safety of others, no matter what you do. Driving, operating a boat, casting heavy poppers & streamers.... It's just ANOTHER thing. Yes tick checks can be fun but here is the common sense for the tick thing. I have a dedicated set of clothes that I spray and maintain with permethrin. When I plan on being in the woods I put them on so this is common sense. So like that when I am going to be around folks I do not know I am using common sense again and put on a mask. Common sense again. When Pat goes to work and before she enters the clinic she puts on a mask and it does not come off until she leaves the building and gets in her car. Common sense again. Maybe we should be wearing a racing helmet when throwing heavy poppers and streamers? Maybe not a bad idea cuz I once smacked @Al Agnew in the 🧢 with a 3 treble top water. 😂 Al didn’t get too excited and never missed a beat. The first big fly rod poppers I made were with treble hooks in the back. Way back then I really thought I needed them for better hook ups. They did work well and gave away several. The stories about the 14 foot boat, fly rods and the blitzes were with the treble hooked poppers. Told the gifted I would not be responsible for accidents.
