Do You Ever Argue With Them?

My one citation came from MN ice fishing. Was just stupid mistake buddies and I ran from hut to lodge to get burgers....left lines down and unattended. Came back and started punching holes away from the shack and fishing. Warden pulls up and checks us. One buddy has license in hut. Warden follows. Finds unattended lines. Counts them and as a group were 1 over number of lines we can have in the water. 

We admitted fault and negligence. No harm no foul. He says should be writing each of us a ticket for unattended and one of us for extra line. Offers to write 1 ticket and we work out who takes it. They both big game hunt out of state. In the interest of not hampering their draw results ect. I took the ticket and they paid. Nice reasonable guy that just realized we made a stupid mistake.

Yep, Trespassing.  I didn't deserve it. Agreed to plead guilty and pay the fine as long as it didn't go on my record.   It was the difference between paying 125.00 or hiring a lawyer for 1500.00    I really wanted to fight it and make my case, but I didn't have any extra money at the time.   

 

My oldest just got busted for fishing on a paddleboard in a KC lake without a PFD in her possession, she's all pissed off about it.  Gonna cost her 180.00 😅

never had any problems with agents,wish more them were around to catch those that break fish and game laws.

Here’s my policy:

1) Follow the rules

2) Smile and be nice to the authorities

3) No matter what, don’t argue

It has worked well for me in many situations.

They should smile and be nice too.  

This prevents them from hollering at you and making you cross the river/lake IMMEDIATELY to greet them. 

It also prevents them from blowing through the riffle you're fishing with a jet boat.  

They should also just check your license, wish you well, and allow you to continue your day.   Bonus questions like "Where ya from", "Come here often", "Camping nearby or headed home after your done fishing", are irrelevant and just cut into my time.     I didn't drive all this way to stand on the bank and shoot the bull with someone that probably doesn't even fish.

One time had a woman Agent asked me for my Fishing Permit. I had left it in the Pickup up the hill. She carried my fish up to the pickup.

Had my Muzzleloader Shotgun our Turkey Hunting. Shot a Squirrel then fired the gun just before dark.

Walked up to the pickup. Agent blocked me in. Told him it was me firing my Muzzleloader. No this was two fast shots. Oh that was me shooting my Double Barrel. Can I look at it I never seen one?

I don't care much for being checked randomly.   If there's a reason to suspect that I may have committed a crime....then fine.  But the whole "random shakedown" thing brings out the smartass in me big-time.    You should be with me during a sobriety checkpoint.   I get down right indignant.

Had one stay at my place for couple weeks trying to catch Turkey Poachers. He knew they was doing it but could never catch them .

Knew one that was on TV Ralf Duran. Knew him years ago. Real good guy.

You should be with me during a sobriety check. I get right back on the road and sleep in my own bed 😄
