Hardly a day goes by that the weather app on my phone doesn't give me "bad air quality" warnings for the STL area since before we moved here this summer.  What is the cause?

Before the pandemic, I would have assumed poor air quality was caused by all the vehicular traffic.  But traffic is greatly reduced now.

Many evenings walking outside, the air smells strongly of something burning.  I thought maybe it might be smoke blowing in from all the western forest fires this year?

Any ideas?

I suspect Pete.  Other than that, nope.

You beat me to it😁.   He’s living down wind of me but more importantly is the garbage dump upwind of him too.  You can see it next to Creve Coeur park.  Slightly north wind and he’s sucking in air from the dump site that’s burning underground up off the Rock Road

Mmmmmmmm, the sweet sweet smell of rotting food and general refuse in the morning.  "Eau de A$$", the new cologne by Mennen, who also brought you Dumpster Juicy Couture apres rasage.  🤢🤮

I use to talk about the smog in Kansas City and the people that had lived there all their life thought I was full of it.

Anymore I drive to Kansas City I pick up smells that are unique to the area. Takes me back to when I was a kid in the bad part of town.

In Springfield one time the air stunk. They said it was Sulfur in the air because of no wind it was just hanging.
