Just need to add a couple of springs or million dollar chiller system for each pond to keep the ponds cool enough to maintain the DO needed for those trout.

Must be a MDC idea? Where is @fishinwrench    Good idea John! :)

I figure if that new strain can survive "A" rigs, frog gigs, throw nets,  treble hooks, power bait, and gun shots until spring time, they will survive the warm water just fine.

A Missouri University (who shall remain unnamed) is raising trout on well water.   They sell them to restaurants at a fraction of the amount that the well pump costs to operate.

Absolutely brilliant!   🙄👍

Academia....  Where you don't worry about profit, deadlines or just about anything else the real world does.

I gotta get me one of those jobs.😁

Flyfished for stocker trout again on Saturday.  And it finally happened!  So excited (not)!  I got skunked! 😜

Sorry. Is your pond one of those catch and keep areas?

No, its (supposed to be) C&R until January 31.  Anglers aren't supposed to use bait or scented plastics until then, but I did see some bait anglers on Saturday.

We can call them the St. Louis strain or the Mississippi strain

I call them the “oil trout” strain.... all the oil and pathogens running into those lake from the streets give them their monicker lol

I caught so many at Forest Park and Walker lake in Kirkwood it became a little boring and I caught a nice with no tail.

Hey you got out and fished. I should have fished my backyard after we had another heavy rain (makes 5 straight weeks for a heavy rain either Thurs or Friday that blows out the creeks) .

The water extends out to the tan line in the woods in that first photo. It was close to being up to my knees when we blood trailed my doe. Deeper than that now.

The lake that I wanted to fish the last two weekends is 4 hours away and was 33 deg with a feels like temp of 21 deg on Sat and had a high temp expectation of 24 deg on Sunday with a 12 to 15 mile per hr wind. Was not going to get my daughter and wife to go along with standing out in that weather. So no fishing again this weekend.

Hey, the days will start getting longer in 15 days! :)  In Iowa, at least, February always seemed like the worst/coldest month of the year.  Will be interested to see what its like here in MO.
