I think the poor oral hygiene has a lot more to do with it than the masks do.

Pretty sure that's what I said (and it's what they said).

So is it your position that masks don't compound the problem?

I really don't see how they could, the culprit bacteria are already present and resident, the masks would have zero effect on that. (Unless of course the mask is worn during tooth brush time)

You must. everything I have read says the same. Wearing a mask only keeps you from spreading droplets containing the virus.

The problem with all of the arguments presented here is that you are thinking in absolutes. Wearing a mask minimizes the amount of drolets coming from you for example if you sneeze. It does not fully eliminate those droplets. Droplets from an unmasked sneeze will carry beyond six feet but a masked one does not. Thus you are protecting others if you wear a mask AND social distance. The masks and face coverings that most of us have access to or actually wear do not effectively filter out virus sized particles. So there cannot be a claim that you are 100 percent safe while wearing a mask. Take a look at disinfectant sprays. None will ever state that they kill 100% of all germs and instead state 99.9%.

But hey free country for now. Believe what you want to believe.

Due to the nature of gravity, water droplets generally head towards the earth.  also, if your social distancing, the chances of you getting sneezed on are incredibly small.

The fear is not unfounded when whole families die isolated from each other by quarantine.  The control has been in place for decades and is called fiat money,  Most of the wealth in this country is based on imagination that our money is real.

Try this, hold any kind of mask/shield/object close in front of your face  and spit through it onto a table, then wipe your hand on the table; there won't be any spit there- now spit on the table without masking your mouth and wipe your hand across the spit on the table and notice how much spit gets on your hand. A sneeze or cough expels drops of spit at great force that can aerosolized into small enough droplets that they can suspend in the air breathed around the edges of the mask. Or more commonly fall onto a surface and picked by the hands.

You anti maskers realize you just made the argument for masking right?

You all just stated that a mask won’t help me, but it will help me from spreading it.
Great job everybody. It has been confirmed by the experts that masking does indeed help to control the spread. Thanks to everyone for playing along.

If a person feels good enough to be out running around shopping and carrying on, then I'm not overly concerned about catching whatever sickness their body is invaded with.

I kinda see this whole thing similar to a tick bite.   You and me probably pluck off a dozen ticks a year.....but your neighbor might get one tick on them and darn near die.     I don't see anyone loosing their mind about THAT.

That and the fact you are infected long before symptoms show up.

Giddy up

I'm not anti mask, just in favor of truth in advertising. Here's the thing about possibly infecting your spouse, as in the op, if you wear a mask every where you go you reduce the possibility that you will infect the clerk at the lumberyard, but you have not significantly reduced your ability to become infected, yet you go home and refuse to wear a mask in the house and bang you've done got a benign case of cov19 and given it to your spouse and yep she dies. Well she can't blame you can she? you wore that mask and didn't infect the public.

Do you live in the Ozarks? a dozen is like a ten minute dose in the woods or a half day in the yard after three kinds of insecticides.

Well, that went buzzing right by ya didn’t it?

Now, reread what you just said. Then use that same scenario only add a mask to the lumber yard clerk. Well, looky there. Your chances of bringing it home were greatly reduced. And all lived happily ever after.
Then she got caught in bed with the lumber yard clerk and now they are both dead. But nobody could identify the perp because he had a mask on. Saved again!

2-3,000 people a day are dying. 200k+ new infections daily.

EVEN if those numbers are wrong and its actually half then its multiple magnitudes larger than tick bite deaths.
